A bowl of popcorn, freshly squeezed orange juice (soda cans or beer bottles for many) and a few good funny movies to watch. This is one of the best ways to spend a weekend after a stressed out week. I have picked out some of the really good funny movies to watch that you should watch over the weekend. Believe me, it was a challenging task in itself to find some good movies that would make you laugh. Laughter too comes in various forms. Some like dark humor, some enjoy read between the lines kind of humor and there are those who love simple, clean comedies. The following list of good funny movies contains some of my personal favorites that deserve to be mentioned. Really Good Funny Movies to Watch

If you dive into the world of comedies, you will find there are hundreds of good movies that prove to be laugh riots. I shall begin this list with Mrs. Doubtfire. This movie was produced in 1993 starring Robin Williams, Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan. This lighthearted comedy was about an unemployed voice actor who is divorced and wants to spend time with his three children. He takes up the role of their nanny. The fun lies in the part, where the father dresses up like a female nanny, Mrs. Doubtfire. A hilarious comedy about a father, his love for the family, as well as the struggle to get the family back together.

Next in line, is The Cable Guy. This movie stars Matthew Broderick and Jim Carrey. If you have Jim Carrey, it is bound to be a greasy mess of a comedy. The story is about a cable installer Ernie 'Chip' Douglas (Carrey) who provides his services to Steven Kovacs (Broderick). What follows is getting stalked by the Cable Guy and a life turned upside down for Steven Kovacs.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a 1994 comedy movie, again starring Jim Carrey. The movie is about Ace Ventura, who is a self-proclaimed pet detective. As the name suggests, he is an expert in finding lost animals and pets. The fun starts when a Dolphin is kidnapped before the Super Bowl. The Dolphin is said to be a lucky charm for football players who feel they will lose the game if it does not return. Ace Ventura is hired and you can expect nothing, but more comedy.

Steve Martin is one of my favorite actors, who fits like lock and key in his roles in comedy movies. He does a beautiful job in the comedy film Father of the Bride. The movie is about George Banks (Martin) whose 22-year-old daughter Anne (Kimberly Williams) decides to marry. The father is attached to his daughter and still feels she is too young to start a life of her own. A father about to lose his daughter to another man, is a fact Banks cannot accept. A must see for all fathers of lovely daughters who have to come to terms with life and see their little girl grow up into a woman.

A 2002 American romantic comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a great watch for all those who love romance and comedy. This movie was nominated for Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 75th Academy Awards. This says it all about the movie and the storyline. The movie is about Fotoula 'Toula' Portokalos (Vardalos) who is a Greek American woman. She is slightly over-weight and trying hard to find a suitable husband. She does find love in Ian Miller (John Corbett) who is non-Greek and a hunk of a man. A lovely romantic comedy about how the families learn to accept their relationship and overlook the cultural differences.

These were the top 5 good funny movies that I have enjoyed watching. You may or may not agree with the list of good movies above. However, I do not stop here. In the following paragraph, I enlist some funny movies that are worth a watch and a few who are worth repeat telecasts as well.
