Gone For Too Long
I wrote this because I was upset with my mother. As far back as I can remember, she has always dated abusive alcoholics.
You left me.
Alone, cold, wondering.
You sent me away.
Lost, scared and worried.
Traumatized for life,
destined to live a life full of hate.
You looked me in the eyes,
As I began to cry.
How could you?
I thought we were happy,
But of course I was wrong.
We could've found a place to live,
we weren't homeless that long.
Find another drunk,
just like you usually do.
He'll stay for a little while,
and he'll give us a place to live.
Then he'll beat us like they all do.
Every single one treated us like crap.
And every single time, you took each one of them back.
I thought you'd learn your lesson the 3rd time around.
The day you pissed him off,
and he shoved your head into the ground.
But you ran back to him, just like before.
You said he was fine,
and that he wouldn't hurt us anymore,
well why don't you tell that to my brother who is lying on the floor??
You were wrong about the men once again,
which caused all of your kids to be sent away.
We've been gone for so long.....
