Golf Strengthening Exercises
Golf strengthening exercises are essential, if one wants to stay competitive in this game. To know more about golf strengthening exercises, read on.
Golf strengthening exercises are easy to perform and can be done quickly. Do these exercises daily for 10-15 minutes and your performance can improve significantly.
Stretching Exercises for Shoulders
To perform these stretches is not a daunting task. Golfers often complain about aching hands and shoulders. To reduce the pain of the shoulder muscles, one can practice the exercises mentioned below.
Shoulder Stretch
This exercise begins by holding the shaft of a golf club vertically behind your back. Now using your hand, pull the club slowly until you feel a strain in the shoulder of your lower arm. Hold this stretch for 20 seconds. Now pull the club in the downward direction with the lower arm until you feel a stretch in the muscles of your top shoulder. Reverse your hand positions and repeat the procedure.
Neck Stretch
Put your arms behind your back and with your right hand, hold your left wrist. Make sure that your shoulders are relaxed and then tilt your head to the right side. Slightly move your left shoulder in the downward direction, towards your feet. You will feel a strain on the left side of your neck. Remain in this position for 20 seconds.
Exercises Specific to Golf Swing
Do you want to improve your backswing, so that you deliver a powerful stroke? Well, you can achieve it by incorporating these exercises in your golf exercise program. These exercises are easy to implement and when done regularly can show great improvement in your golf swing. In addition to this, these exercises will also help eliminate back pain. So if you want to play the game with a better golf swing, then all you need, is to take out 10-15 minutes of your day.
Using dumbbells, an exercise ball and exercise tubing, can also help improve your swinging ability. Dumbbell exercises allow you to coordinate your body muscles properly, which will help deliver a good swing. Many golfers are unable to maintain balance, when swinging the golf club. Dumbbell exercises are beneficial to improve the balance.
The Lower and Upper Back Stretches
The golf swing causes a lot of bending and twisting that can lead to backaches. These exercises are very useful in alleviating joint and muscle pain. They reduce muscle soreness and the risk of back-related injuries. Back stretching increases overall flexibility, by reducing muscle stiffness. These exercises can prevent muscle spasms (excruciating pain in the lower back). The following exercise will minimize your back pain, thus helping you achieve a better backswing.
Seated Twist
Sit in your office chair with your back straight and chest out. Turn your upper body using your left arm over your right shoulder. Put your right arm on your left leg and push. Hold this position for at least 10 seconds. Now switch arms and rotate in the opposite way.
These golf strengthening exercises have been effective in improving the game of many golfers. These exercises can definitely help bring about positive changes in your muscle strength, and thereby, achieve the fitness levels necessary for a better game.
