The way a golfer swings his iron or a wood decides the course of his or her golfing career. If the downswing is goofed up, then there can be a problem. Golf Downswing Sequence

Step 1
To begin with, replace the heel from the spot where it has been pulled off the ground in the process of backswing. In the backswing, maximum of a player's weight is transferred to the inside of the back foot. It is just enough to make sure that the heel of the front foot comes off the ground a little bit. So, while replacing the heel in its original position, the knees have to move parallel to each other and to the right of the target. Further, the hips have to shift forward as well. Step 3
At this point, as the lower body has rotated a bit in the direction of the target, the right shoulder will drop a little. This is good, because this lowering of shoulder will facilitate the player to take a better swing at the ball with the club.

Step 4
The next step is rotating your hips in the direction of the target, in a manner that your stomach faces the target. After the lower body has to start shifting prior to the rotation of the upper body. Tips for Achieving a Good Golf Downswing

Tip #1
Stance is the thing which has to be watched minutely, if the downswing has to turn out to be correct. The stance should be correct and impeccable, but at the same time it should be comfortable. For a proper stance, feet should be shoulder width apart and shoulders should be in alignment with the target. The elbows have to be relaxed.

Tip 2
Positioning your head appropriately, is essential for a perfect culmination to golf swing. The ball should be hit squarely and not on the top. Your head has to be a bit behind the ball, prior to impact.

Tip 3
Keeping your right hand at bay is advisable. The usage of your right hand would ruin the timing of your swing and the line of the club till it hits the ball.

Tip 4
For a correct golf downswing, the clubhead and shaft have to be behind your hands. It is important for sensing and anticipating the release of the whole movement.

Tip 5
Always keep the golf swing mechanics in your mind, whenever you are practicing or participating in a tournament.
