Easy Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • 4 cups pure goat milk (or canned goat milk)
  • 13 cups lard (slightly melted)
  • 1 can caustic soda (lye)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ½ cup honey

Take a non-reacting container (preferably enamel or stainless steel) and add goat milk, honey and hot water. Stir well and slowly add lye to the milk mixture. Leave it for cooling till desirable temperature is reached, 85° F. Warm lard to about 85° F and pour this to lye mixture. Using a wooden spatula, stir and make the consistency similar to that of honey. Pour soap base in the molds. After 48 hours, these body wash soaps will be hardened and ready for cutting.

Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • 21 ounces olive oil
  • 14 ounces coconut oil
  • 9 ounces palm oil
  • 6.3 ounces lye
  • 15.5 ounces goat's milk
  • 2 ounces oatmeal
  • 1 ounce raw honey
Directions for Preparation

For making your own soap, blend oatmeal in the electric blender till you get a fine consistency, and keep aside. Pour goat milk in a pitcher, and gently add lye to this pitcher. Stir slowly with a wooden spatula, till lye dissolves completely in the milk. Take proper care as the mixture will become hot. Keep this aside in a safe place for cooling. By the meantime, combine together olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil in a large steel pan. Heat this oil mixture in a low heat setting to about 92° F.

Keep a watch over the lye milk mixture. As soon as it cools down to 92° F, you can mix it with the oil mixture. Following this, stir using a stick blender for about 15-17 minutes, or until the soap mixture reaches trace. Add ground oatmeal, honey and fragrant oil (if desired). Stir for a few minutes for even mixing of the ingredients, and pour it in soap molds. Keep it undisturbed for two days, and you will get goat milk soap bars. Complete curing of this soap for dry skin requires about 1-1½ months.

Olive Oil Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • 1 cup goat milk
  • 1 cup lard (rendered fat), melted
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup lye
  • ¼ cup water

This olive oil soap recipe is excellent for people who have dry skin or sensitive skin. With proper care, dissolve lye in water, preferably in a pitcher. Allow this mixture to cool down, about 110° F. To the pan containing melted fat, add lye mixture and goat milk (one after the other). Combine well the castile soap concoction to trace, which may take about 1 hour with manual stirring. Pour this in soap molds, and let it harden for 2 days. With this step, your homemade goat milk soap is ready. Cure soaps for 3-4 weeks before using them.
