Goat Milk Benefits

Did you know that the chemical structure of goat milk mimics that of a nursing mother? That is why this milk is close to being a perfect food of nature. Get to know about the amazing benefits of goat milk from the following.
As I was saying, goat milk is close to being the perfect food in nature and some people even regard it as the most complete food one can benefit from. The milk is abundant in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes, protein, electrolytes and fatty acids. All these nutrients are absorbed and utilized by the body with ease. In case you had not known this fact, that it takes about 20 minutes for our body to digest goat milk. While, 2 - 3 hours is required to digest cow's milk. One interesting fact behind goats being limber, flexible and more active than cows, is that they belong to a class of bioorganic sodium (food sodium) animals. This essential mineral is known as the youth element; the lack of which brings on the symptoms of old age. It is this very mineral which keeps goats going with the things they love to do; climbing, jumping, leaping, getting on top of roofs and the like.

Easy Digestion
The vitamin, minerals and other nutrients content in goat milk is an effective replacement for all kinds of supplements people take today. Because of its smaller fat globules (one-ninth the size of cow's milk), the milk is easily digestible. Due to its rapid digestion process, more friendly bacteria and enzymes are released in the body. This in turn, makes way for the body to absorb and utilize the nutrients without any kind of discomfort, which may arise due to cow's milk allergic reactions. So this makes goat milk an ideal and high compatible natural food for those who have an intolerance towards cow milk.

In some cases, it has been seen that infants cannot tolerate infant formulas which are based on dairy products. So goat milk can be used as a replacement for such food products. However, it is to known that this milk is low in iron and certain vitamins, especially vitamins B12 and folate. So, infants who are on goat milk must be given other food which can supplement the other essential nutrients, not present in the milk.

More Calcium
Another health benefit of goat milk is its calcium content that is more than cow's milk. One cup of goat milk can provide 32.6% of the daily value for calcium, while that of the cow offers 29.7% of the same. The milk is also high in fatty acids, such as capric and caprylic acids. These are antimicrobial by nature and they are known to minimize the accumulation of cholesterol in the arteries. These fatty acids are also capable of dissolving cholesterol and gallstones. As the milk lacks production of mucus, unlike the cow's milk, it does not trigger any defense response from the human immune system. Its lactose content is 7% lesser than that of the cow milk's.

Other Benefits
Medical conditions like ulcers can be treated effectively with the help of goat milk. Compared to OTC antacids, it has more acid buffering capacity. Infants and small children when fed with this milk on a regular basis, seem to enjoy deeper sleep and remain more satisfied between meals. As the milk has similar potency as of mother's milk, it helps in curbing the growth of harmful organisms and promote overall health.

Other benefits include managing symptoms like vomiting, gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and even, symptoms of respiratory disorders in the body. People who are on a regular consumption of the milk have a healthy weight, increased blood serum vitamins, and improved levels of mineral and hemoglobin. Furthermore, ailments like steatorrhea (a condition where the feces contain more than normal amount of fat in them), cystic fibrosis, gallstones, malabsorption syndrome and epilepsy can also be countered with the help of goat milk.

People who are inflicted with skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis or dehydrated skin, can definitely feel the improvement with the use of goat milk. Before bathing, add 2-3 cups of it to your bathing water and soak yourself for sometime. It is common to notice a smooth feel of your skin, immediately after the bath.

Note that although, goat milk can be taken raw, when pasteurized, it reduces the chance of bacterial growth. So the next time you go shopping, bring home some goat milk instead of cow's milk. Don't go 'moo', go 'bleat'...
