Goal Setting Tips
On the hunt for some great goal setting tips? Here are some of great tips to help you set and achieve your goals.

Ways to Set Goals
Differentiate between Long Term and Short Term
The most important thing is to understand the difference between a long term and a short term goal and then lay down both. A long term goal is something which you wish to achieve over a period of 10 years. Short term ones are those which are stepping stones towards that final step you want to achieve. As such, short term goals can be daily, monthly and yearly. All these short term goals should be such that they somehow contribute to the final, long term goal.
Think Things Through
Now that you know the difference between long term and short term goals, one of the most important tip for college students and adults is thinking about what they do wish to achieve in the short and the long run. They can be of all types - personal, professional, physical, educational, financial etc. Set a reasonable and achievable long term benchmark. Break up your long term plan into short periodically defined steps.
Make a Schedule
One of the simplest, yet very important ways for kids is to make a schedule listing the goals to be achieved. Making a schedule and pinning it in a very visible place in your room will help you remember what your goals are and help you achieve them. Otherwise, there are chances that you will lose focus from your goals and forget about them and procrastination sets in. Hence, it is important that you make a schedule and work accordingly.
Assess Performance
One of the important business goals is to assess your progress. Sometimes, you may unknowingly set some rather lofty targets for yourself which you will find very difficult to achieve. Hence, it is important that you take stock of your achievements till date and then monitor your progress. If you feel that the goals you set for yourself were too tough, then revise them. If you think they're too easy, even then it is important that you revise those and make them a bit more challenging.
Rewards Program
After achieving all these little strides with success, give yourself a little reward. Suppose you're on a diet and you follow it regularly for a week, then take the Sunday off and give yourself a little treat. This will help you keep going and continue your progress and enhance positive thinking. Giving yourself that little treat can really provide the required motivation to achieve your short term goals.
To conclude, I would just like to say that someone once said that goals should be smart ~ Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound. So, make sure that when you set your goals, they have these basic qualifying points. Things are always easier said than done. It takes a lot of dedication to stick to you put down for yourself. So make sure you do.
