Fun Target Setting Activities

The List
What are the qualities which you feel you lack, and yet, admire in others? Have you ever been criticized for the lack of certain qualities and thought that if it weren't for that one little problem, you'd have been a better person overall? Do you feel that you lack something which you need to accomplish really soon? Well, make a list of all that stuff. Listing your goals and your plans is one of the simplest and basic activities and also, one of the activities for kids and adults. If you wish to, you can categorize the list into different types of goals such as personal, professional, etc., to gain more clarity on the topic.

Visualization
This may sound like a pretty depressing thought, but is one of the best things for high school students. Think to a day in the future, the day of your funeral. Should you have died and people come to your funeral, what would you want them to say? What would you want to be remembered for? What is it that you feel your family and friends ought to miss most about you and specifically mention in their eulogy? Think about it and then write these things down. Think about what would you want to be remembered for, what are the qualities which you would want to possess, which would characterize you even at your funeral. Scratch out the ones which you already feel you possess and work on acquiring the others.

Make Your Goals SMARTer
There is a simple, widely acclaimed way of goal setting, known as setting SMART goals. SMART of course is the acronym for the Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Time bound. The concept of SMART goals tells us the basic qualities which each of our targets need to encapsulate. They need to be specific and not vague. They need to be measurable and quantifiable. They need to be ones on which actions can be taken. And lastly, they need to be realistically within your reach and need to have a limited time frame for completion. By putting these basic qualification norms, this is one of the best activities for middle school students and can help you create and achieve goals better.

Ideally, target setting ought to be done in a team, so in case you miss out on a particular goal to be achieved, your colleagues can bring that bit of oversight to your attention. The activity needs to be strongly infused in the minds of younger students, so that, they appreciate the importance of planning and setting goals and achieving them.
