Giving Money as a Gift

Giving money is sometimes the last resort for people who haven't been able to find a birthday/anniversary gift for someone. But is considering money as a gift such a good idea?
I agree that sometimes it can be extremely hard to buy a gift for someone. Some people are really picky as to what they want. You don't know if they'll like or even use the gift you get them. So selecting a gift for such people is really tough. At the same time, not everyone can think of a good enough gift for people all the time. A lot of people are too busy to go out and think of a good gift.

Another case where buying a gift becomes difficult is when you are unsure of what the relationship between the two of you is like. Suppose you are having a fling with someone much younger than you are (which is possible) and a couple of weeks into the relationship, their birthday comes up. What gift can you get them? Any gift you get is pretty much symbolic of your relationship and if you do not know where the relationship is going, you don't want to commit just yet! This is when people start exploring the socially looked-down-upon option.

Creative Ways of Gifting Money

But then again, you ought to make SOME effort. It shouldn't be like you walk into their party and slip in some cash when no one's looking! After all, it's a gift and not a bribe! So make it look as though you have given some thought with these ideas.

Cards
It doesn't take an Einstein to think up birthday cards or any greeting cards for that matter as a gift for someone. All you need to do is go to the nearest gift shop and pick up a good looking card with a nice message. Then slip the card into an envelope with some money and then give it.

Money Tree
This one will take some doing. For this, you will need a plastic tree, a flower pot and a few dollar bills. Pick the tree depending on how many dollar bills you intend to give. Put the plastic tree in the flower pot and stick the dollars on the branches or on the leaves. Make sure you don't use too strong an adhesive or else the birthday boy/girl will not be able to use it!

Gift 'Wrapping'
One more cool idea is when you know that your birthday friend is going to incur some expense. Is your friend going for a cruise? Why not get him a ship-in-a-bottle with a few dollar bills in it? Is he going to buy a new cell phone? A few friends can pool in some cash and stuff it in a toy cell phone so that your friend gets the message. Is your friend expecting a baby? You can stuff a few dollars in a baby bottle!

Piggy Bank
Could there be a more creative way to give your friend some money than through a piggy bank? A piggy bank is a cute gift plus the money combined. Ideal for one of those friends who isn't in the habit of saving money!

Gift Voucher/ Coupons
And if you want to put no thought into the gift at all, then the simplest thing would be to buy a gift voucher or dinner coupons. You can go to a shop/restaurant your friend likes and purchase a gift voucher so your friend will have a good time!

Gifting money means that you might have to pay a lot more than buying a gift yourself, but if you think paying more is better than having to search for a gift, well, suit yourself!
