Giving Gifts That Influence

So when you leave the room are the people better off for knowing you or even just coming in contact with you? What are you doing to lift thos up around you?
In the course of your normal day how many people due you interact with?
How many strangers? Friends and Relatives? How many people walk away with a new perspective of you from your actions or words? Better yet how many people walk away with a different perspective on life or on themselves from being around you?

And is this new perspective BETTER or worse?

Your life affects those you have contact with, whether you intend it or not. It may be a positive experience for them or not, but your life will affect others. And it’s a lot more people than you think. And a lot will be "indirects" – so why not try to have a positive uplifting experience for those who come in contact with you.

Paul wanted to have a spiritual blessing upon other believers – even those he was directly interacting with. He wanted to help the people of Rome yet they were too far away. He longed to visit them but in the meantime he sent them letters to uplift them and to encourage them. He hoped to build up their faith. He prayed for them always and always asked God to be with them. He prayed for them even though he had never met any of them. While he waited for a trip to Rome he wrote them many letters than became the Book of Romans in the bible. The letters help the church deepen their faith.

We should share Paul’s goal of leaving a spiritual blessing with everyone around us. We should try and give everyone a feeling of importance – of uplifting them. We have the opportunity to strengthen our parents, our friends, our coworkers and our strangers. Spiritual blessings are not given haphazardly, but by focus and choice. Too often we focus on ourselves and only seek blessings for ourselves. Only when we are determined to give to others to we give them blessings. Then we will know the special blessings and ministry God gave to Paul and consequently Paul focused on giving to others. And you will then know that it is truly better to give than to receive.

Who are you giving to today? Who will be better off for bumping into you? Who are you focused on uplifting today? And it’s that focus on others that will allow you to give blessings to those you just "happen" to meet today. So as you go about you day; be the positive influence in everyone’s life – God will truly bless you and them.
