Give Your Eyes the Right Protection and Style!

Today we can fortunately choose among a large assortment of hip and fashionable sunglasses to be sure to offer our eyes an adequate level of protection from ultraviolet radiations.
Buying a new pair of goggles involves both a choice of personal taste and an act of love for our eyes to ensure them adequate ultraviolet ray protection.

Ultraviolet rays (or UV rays) coming from the sun can be extremely damaging. They are one of the main responsible for cataracts and macular degeneration: both pathologies involve damage to eye’s cells causing impaired vision and can ultimately lead to blindness.

UVA and UVB rays are the types of ultraviolet radiations that reach our planet most predominantly.

Thence it arises that wearing sunglasses that offer a high percentage of sun protection from these rays (preferably blocking 100 percent of them) is essential to maintain our eyes’ health.

It is absolutely forbidden to compromise with it!

It is important to find sunglasses for sale that suit correctly and comfortably our face. All sunglasses should fit perfectly from temple to temple: they do not have to be too narrow or too loose and should lean on the nose without pinching. Moreover, they should not touch the cheeks or the eyelashes and pupils should look right through the center of the lens.

Nowadays, we can choose among thousands of different frames and be sure to find the right shape for our face.

Basic frame styles are:

- fully framed

- half-frame or half rimless, with the frame only on the upper half of the glasses

- completely rimless

- semi or full wraparound style frames, ideal for sport and outdoor activities

Materials for frames are equally numerous: resin or plastic frames (the most inexpensive options), polycarbonate frames (highly impact resistant), nylon, wood, metal alloys, stainless steel, aluminum and titanium frames (durable materials).

As for lenses, options are likewise various and different.
Lenses in plastic, polycarbonate or optical glass with different type of coating, from anti-reflective to mirrored and scratch resistant coatings.

And then there is the color of the lens. Today we can choose among a wide variety of colors. Let’s meet them!

- gray: it is the most common choice for daily eyewear and offers minimal color distortion

- brown and green hues have low color distortion too, but have greater contrast

- amber lenses have one of the highest levels of contrast, which is good for activities when precision is important

- clear sunglasses can effectively block ultraviolet rays, but may be less comfortable because they do not reduce light glare

- pink, red and blue have good contrast, but cause greater color distortion than other colors.

Do not forget that today other types of lenses are available for us. For example:

- gradient lenses, dark at the top of the lens and gradually lighten, ideal for driving

- double gradient lenses, dark on top and bottom and lighter in the middle of the lens, recommended for sports where a high degree of glare reflection occurs, such as skiing

- polarized, ideal to reduce glare

- photochromatic, very versatile lenses that grow lighter or darker lenses according to the amount of light present

Last, but not least, I’d like to mention two very important factors of our times: fashion and style.

Choosing sunglasses that fit our face shape is an important part of our personal style.
Sunglasses can help balance the face. For example, a person with a round face should for wide angular sunglasses, while a person with a square face should choose rounded or oval styles.

You can find sunglasses at a wide variety of retailers and in many price ranges. Although you do not have to spend thousands of euros to get a decent pair of sunglasses, keep in mind that a moderate or higher price range will generally yield a higher quality, especially as for lenses.
