Giorni in Roma (Days in Rome) - Chapter One
Madison lands in Rome. Enjoy!

A short brunette girl sat at the window seat of a rather large plane that was arriving to Italy from England. This brunette here was none other than Madison Gemmy; a wondrous journalist who had applied at Capital Magazine two years ago. She had worked her way up to receiving a promotion and was now one of the top five journalists scattered across the Italian country.
I am completely sure that this trip will make my future perfect and everybody else's future too. Rome, Roma, the Eternal City; this is where I want to be; right here, right now.
Madison closed her velvet journal and now after a short amount of writing, the plane was even closer to landing. She let herself peek outside the window and saw light and dark green patches of farmers' fields. The seat belt sign flashed on and soon, clicking noises were heard all around Madison's seat.
Having a first-class seat was somewhat pretty okay to Madison though she was nowhere used to it. George, the head of Capital Magazine had arranged for her flight to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Madison tried to forget about her seat status for a while and gazed out the window again. The green patches were still there but off to the distance, gray buildings emerged.
"When will we land in Roma?" The lady beside Madison asked to the airplane attendant. She made it noticeable that the plane trip was wearing her out.
The attendant pointed to the window. "Oh, well we're here now. Please, but I must go and Buckle up."
With what Madison had just heard, she spun around to the window and was greeted with a bustling city full of life. Tiny colorful cars moved around like little toys while tiny specks that looked like insects moved from building to building. She saw gray roads, circular church tops, and a train that looked quite fancy.
The plane took a deep turn as an announcement came on. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is Captain Ron speaking. At this time, we are approaching the Fiumicino Airport. From there, we suggest that you take the Leonardo Express to enter Rome as the airport is thirty-two kilometers away from the Eternal City. You will arrive at Rome's main railway station from which you may choose to continue to your destination or stop at the station. If you choose not to take the express however, there will be numerous cabs to take you inside Rome. Please make sure you have your seat belt on and secured as I finish off this announcement."
As the plane got closer and closer to the surface of the Eternal City, the engines fired up and there was much commotion about the landing as little children bobbed up and down trying to catch a glimpse of the plane connecting with the ground. Madison smiled as she saw the mother trying to calm her children down. The young mother whispered something in her children's ear and they giggled. She pulled out a cookie for them and the little girl in pigtails hugged her mother. Madison smiled at the charming children but that smile disappeared when she got a flashback.
"Daddy! You look very handsome in your suit," a short girl in pigtails said. "Will you come and have tea with me and Mr. Snuffles? Please?" she asked, pulling on her father's sleeve.
Her father pulled away and looked into a mirror while fixing his navy blue tie. "No, Madison. Mommy and I have a charity auction to go to tonight. We are the hosts you know," he said while making no eye contact with Madison. He dressed very formally and could not keep his eyes off Madison's mother when she walked down the stairs. She wore a lovely cherry dress and same as her husband, she also made no eye contact with the little girl standing beside the mirror.
"Why don't you watch some TV?" Her mom suggested. "We won't be back until midnight. Tell Sarah to lock all the doors," she added, indicating the nanny while linking her arm with Madison's father and strutting out the door.
Madison slumped back to the couch and hugged the dear teddy bear as if it was a real human. Disappointment was definitely in the air as she heard the car backing out and driving into the night. The little girl, now all alone, except for the nanny upstairs held on to her bear, and one by one, each tear slowly fell down and landed on the gray, now darker stained couch.
Madison abruptly snapped out of her flashback as the plane stroke the cement pathway. It had finally landed and was now speeding to connect with the force of gravity.
"This is Captain Ron once again. I would like to firstly say that this has been a tremendous flight and I wish you passengers a safe time in Rome. As we are still moving at this time, I ask that seat belts be remained on and that everyone would stay seated," Captain Rob talked a bit more about any time changes and tourist attractions until the plane reached a final stop. "As you can see we have turned the seat belt sign off and so we ask that first-class passengers be boarded off first and so on. It has been a pleasure flying with you and thank you for choosing British Airlines."
With the end of that last announcement, the first-class area was jammed packed with people standing up and opening the top compartment. Once Madison had managed to finally get out of the plane, she could feel the rich, warm Italian air rushing past her. She also noticed the family with the children rushing past her to be welcomed by a huge cluster of people. They kissed each cheek and said many things in Italian which Madison could not understand of course. Inspired by this moment, Madison took her journal out.
Just now, I saw a family that was probably visiting from England. They look friendly. Well, everyone looks friendly in Rome. It's sweet to see Italy's tradition of welcoming people. A kiss on the cheek is quite sweet.

Comment please? I would love to hear some feedback. I know it sounds like there isn't any romance right now, but it will come. Like, in the third chapter. I'm not rushing the romance factor this time, LOL! And thanks to Floppy Disc for correcting me on the title. Haha, sorry if I use Italian but it isn't correct.
