Gifts to Encourage Your Child to Crawl

New parents excitedly encourage their child to achieve each new milestone in their life. If your child, or the child on your gift list, has begun to show signs that they are ready to crawl, it might be time to purchase some gifts to encourage them in their latest and greatest endeavor.
New parents excitedly encourage their child to achieve each new milestone in their life. The first few milestones might be minor (who knew babies can’t even hold their own heads up!) but soon the potential to become mobile looms in the future of babies. If your child, or the child on your gift list, has begun to show signs that they are ready to crawl, it might be time to purchase some gifts to encourage them in their latest and greatest endeavor.

When searching for gifts to encourage a child to crawl, there are a few specific things to look for. Gifts that are great for crawling include gifts that will move slowly enough to get the child’s attention, usually with the help of a little push from the baby or the adult. If the gift has wheels, you can bet it will help the child to get moving. Gifts that are colorful and make fun sounds are very encouraging to babies who are nearing the crawling milestone. Gifts that play music or light up will also grab the attention of the soon to be crawler. The following gifts are great examples of gifts that meet the criteria described; purchase one or two of these items and you’ll be chasing your mobile baby around in no time!

Fisher Price makes a product called the Go Baby Go! Crawl Along Musical Ball. This gift is inexpensive, at only $11.00 and features an entertaining monkey and entertaining sounds and music. Another great benefit of this gift is that it has an on and off switch for the sound if you’re concerned about overstimulating the baby as he first learns to crawl.

Fisher Price has another great crawling toy called the Peek a Blocks Rolling Dump Truck. The great thing about this gift is that it lasts through several stages. While a child is still sitting, he will enjoy putting the 5 blocks in the truck and then watching as he dumps them out. As he learns to crawl, he can put the blocks in, roll the truck to another location while he crawls behind it, and dump the blocks out on the other side of the room. The Rolling Dump Truck costs $14.99.

The Moo View Cow appeals to the baby’s innate desire to look at himself in the mirror. Who knew babies could be so vain! For only $9.99 parents can purchase this gift and delight as the child pushes the wheeled mirror and looks at himself doing it at the same time.

Tiny Love has created the Follow Me Fred puppy crawling toy for $26.95. Although it’s a little more expensive than the other toys, it’s worth the money. The puppy resembles a dachshund in size (although it’s much more colorful than the real thing!) and will get moving with a push of a button. The puppy moves slowly enough to get baby’s attention and entices the baby to follow him across the room.

A great crawl toy that also travels well is the Crawl Along Roller by The Little Toy Company. This item is $16.95 and needs to be blown up to use. (The plus side is that it collapses into a small size when the air is let out of it!) Once blown up, the baby will be greeted with a colorful scene outside the toy and bouncing balls inside.

Any of the gifts above can be purchased at reasonable prices and can be found at most retail toy stores. Your child will be entertained and challenged by these gifts that will encourage them to get crawling. Watch out though, once your baby is crawling, you’ll be chasing them all over the house!
