Gift Basket Ideas For A Baby Shower

Baby Showers are one of the funnest events to attend, but purchasing a gift can sometimes be a pain. This article makes your baby shower gift shopping very easy and affordable.
Probably because of one specific "Sex and the City" episode, gift baskets for baby showers are becoming the rage these days. If you are thinking of giving a gift basket for a baby shower, here are some tips:

The first thing to consider when choosing a gift basket for a baby shower is whether you want a unified theme or not. Not wanting a theme for your baby shower gift basket is fine, too, but choosing a specific theme will tell the recipient that the basket was chosen with extra care and affection. Since there are so many different themes to choose from, deciding on just one might be a bit overwhelming. To make it easier for you to select a theme, classify who or what you want the focus of your basket to be. Do you want the focus to be on the baby or the mom-to-be? Do you want to focus on the baby’s room or her environment? Once you’ve answered these questions, you will find that it’s now easier to choose a specific baby shower gift basket theme.

If you want to focus on the baby, your baby shower gift basket should contain items that the baby will immediately need. Possible items include: 1) those that the baby will use for bath time (baby towels or washcloths, baby soap, shampoo, lotion and oil); 2) baby’s clothing (baby outfits, socks, mittens, booties, bibs and sleepwear); 3) feeding equipment (bottles, milk formula, sterilizer, bottle warmer, bottle cleaner and bottle nipples); 4) those that that baby will need when outdoors or when traveling (diapers, diaper changing pad, diaper bag and baby wipes); and 5) those that are needed for baby’s health and safety (thermometer, diaper rash cream, medicines, baby powder and baby grooming kit).

If your focus is the mom-to-be, try to find out if she has special preferences or needs. Is she going to breast-feed or bottle-feed? Does she prefer a specific brand of baby items? Answering these questions will make it easier for you to determine what exactly it is that the mother-to-be needs and wants. Possible items to include in such a gift basket would be: nipple cream, moisturizing lotion, stretch-mark creams, baby books, nursing bras, nursing pillows, nursing towels, a girdle or a stomach binder, nursing clothes, and the like.

If your focus is the baby’s surroundings, room or environment, research on what the living conditions of the baby will be once he or she is born. Does the baby have his own room or nursery or will he share the same room as his parents? If the baby has a room, does it have a specific color or theme? Possible items for your gift basket include: a baby lamp, outlet covers, corner bumpers, cabinet latches, toys for the baby’s crib, play mats, baby pillows, blankets and decorations for the baby’s room.

Giving a baby shower gift basket will surely be a great source of joy for any expectant mom. Not only will your gift be helpful and useful, but it will be memorable and cherished as well.
