Getting Rid of Bed Bugs in Luggage and Clothes

Before we start this discussion about extermination, it is essential to understand the typical habitats of these pests, so that you will be able to get them out of your house completely and not find them lurking somewhere else tomorrow!

They said that once upon a time the world was almost freed from this despicable vermin, but they are back with a bang and are still one of the number one house pests, right up there with termites. The most common way in which the bed bugs spread is through luggage. Suppose you went for a trip and stayed in a hotel which was unfortunately infested by bed bugs. They crawl into your luggage unexpectedly and unknown to you, travel to your home. A few days later you open the luggage and find a full colony of these dirty creatures. You're now running pillar to post, trying to find a solution. And you have to find one quickly, otherwise they will spread all over your house.

Methods of Killing Bed Bugs

Take no prisoners, kill 'em all! Sounds barbaric, but unfortunately that's the only way to go.
  • Step #1: Isolate the clothes that have the infestation. If you try stamping them out in your cupboard, the chances are that they will spread to other locations in your house. So quickly take all the clothes into a spare room, in which there is no furniture, bed or clothes for the bed bugs to escape.
  • Step #2: The next step is to spray a liberal amount of insecticide and to let them die. A very effective way of killing them is to keep the clothes in the center and stick a two-sided tape around the clothes. When the bed bugs leave the clothes, they will get caught on the tape. Now you can spray insecticide on those. If you thinking about natural methods, you can keep the clothes in a room, heated to at least 120 degrees F. The heat will kill the bed bugs naturally. If you are not sure whether you can kill the bed bugs yourself, you can call pest control.
  • Step #3: The last step is prevention. How to ensure that you do not get this pestilence in the house again? The first is to vacuum the house daily. Not only will that suck up the bed bugs, it will also suck up any eggs that they have laid. Secondly, if you put leaves of the neem tree in the hotspots, it will act as a natural pesticide and bug repellent. And lastly, make sure that you get your house disinfected regularly by the pest control people, so that if there is any infestation, it will be cleared up before it gets worse!
By taking good care of your belongings and regular cleaning, you can ensure that you do not suffer any such infestations in the future.
