Getting a Book Published
The best reward for a writer who has written a book is to see his work in print, especially for new writers. However, many do not know the process of getting their book published, and due to this, their work never comes out in the light. If you are a new writer and are not aware about how to get a book published, this article would help you in knowing more about getting a book published.

How to Get a Book Published?
Most first time writers start sending their manuscripts to publishing houses and wait for results. Though a very few of them may get lucky and get a positive reply in the first place, there are many whose manuscripts are rejected. One does not have to get disappointed and stop writing altogether. Rather, one should continue with writing books, as it is said that with practice one would be able to improve on the writing skills and come up with stories of superior quality. However, before sending the manuscripts to publishers, it is necessary to know certain crucial things.
- Once you have finished the book, you have to go through your manuscript more than once. During this process, you may like to change certain parts which you think would make the story better. You also have to edit spelling and grammatical errors. This is necessary because a book with errors would not be taken seriously by publishers. So, your first step would be to edit your work thoroughly.
- Though you love your book and your friends have given a thumbs up sign after reading it, this is not enough. You need to show your work to strangers who do not know you. For this, you could join a writing group where you can meet other struggling writers and share your work with them. They would definitely give you constructive criticism about your book, and this would help you in improving your book and also your future works. Remember that your manuscript would be one among several that reaches the publisher. For your manuscript to stand out amongst the rest, it is necessary that your story is original and written in a unique way.
- Before you send the manuscript of your book to publishers, it would be beneficial for you to look for an agent. This is required because there are chances that your book may go unnoticed. However, before opting for an agent, research well about the background of the agent. A reputable agent would aid in fastening up the process of getting your book published.
- Beware of publishers who demand money for publishing your book. This is absolutely not needed! Once the book is approved by the publishing house, the entire expenses required to actually publish the book is borne by them. This includes charges for printing, editing, advertising, etc. Before your book goes for printing, you would receive an advanced payment from the publisher and later a percentage from the sales of the book. So if your publisher asks for money, it would be better if you back out of the deal.
- Though you do not have to pay for getting your book published, if you are opting for self publishing, this would become mandatory. Here, you would have to pay the publishing charges and your book would not go through the editing process which actually does if you choose the former way. So, it would be good if you hire an editor to go through your book and do an in-depth evaluation before sending it for printing.
