Ask any Internet marketer what they want for Christmas, and they will happily reply, "Traffic!" Everyone knows they cannot get any money without traffic to their website. This is one of the reasons many Internet marketers including affiliate members quit before they get started; they don't know how to get traffic to their website. Here are some proven ways to make money online and get instant traffic to your site.

Website forums- Forums are the easiest ways to gain traffic to any site. Most forums have high page rank because they have moderators and members who constantly update their website with posts. The thing about forums is that the traffic is temporary and will last for only a day. This is a starting point for those who don't have money to outsource articles or PPC advertising. Search for webmaster forums, since most of them have a high page ranking and are trusted by the search engines.

Article marketing- This is one of the most traditional ways to get traffic to any website. Article marketing has been around for years, and is still kicking and alive. I use to hate article marketing because I didn't like the fact I had to write my own articles and submit them by hand. The truth is; no pain, no gain. When you don't have the money to outsource the efforts, you just have to bit your tongue and put up with it.

The thing that makes article marketing work is; you have to submit those articles in volume. "Bum marketing" has been used to coin this method. Basically, you write about 5-10 articles and submit them to at least 20-100 article directories.

"Will this be considered duplicate content or spamming?" Well, there is no simple answer to that question. The fact is, people always use other people content on the web, whether they are adding content to their own cover story or press release, or if they are just plain stealing. Google seems to have a problem with theft more than publishing duplicate content. But, they do consider "bum marketing' a method used to game the search engines.

This is why you should only submit to high page rank article directories. For one reason, Google is less likely to de-index your article for "duplicate content' because they trust high page rank sites. So, the lower the page rank, the faster Google will find your article and take it out of the index. So, to be on the safe side, stick to directories that have some ranking. A lot of article directories have lost page ranking because they housed a lot of 'spam' articles, but that is another story for another day!

Social bookmarking- this method of gaining quick traffic works better when you use long term keywords with low competition and the right tags. I like social bookmarking because you can gain at least 30-200 visitors with this method alone. Just make sure not to spam the bookmarking sites because your site can get banned; this means using redirect pages and url shorteners. I did this in the past, and my site got banned. I lost out on 200 visitors by being greedy.
