German Shepherd Dog
A German shepherd is a very good looking dog that was mainly bred for performing herding activities. They are big dogs with straight perky ears, black noses and ever alert eyes on an elongated face. They have a well proportioned body which is not only strong but very agile. The shoulders and front as well as back legs are muscular and can easily take the dog's weight well when the animal is in motion. It has a long bushy tail that balances its strides well. The coat is usually brown or black with streaks of white. It is not uncommon to see combinations of black, brown and white on them. The amount of hair they have on their coat depends upon the variety they belong to. They mostly attain a height between 22 to 26 inches, and weight of around 80 to 85 pounds. A German shepherd sheds hair quite regularly, so a good brushing down is essential to keep the coat smooth. They tend to be susceptible to diseases, like, blood disorders, digestive problems, eczema or allergies. Regular walking and exercising of this dog is necessary to keep up its muscular strength. Towards the early 19th century, the dog was assigned police and military roles world over for performing activities in a working environment. These roles included guarding, search and rescue, and as a sniffer dog (member of the bomb squad). Their affable nature has made them permanent members of families where members are either blind, autistic or just to keep company to old people. These dogs can be well trained and produce excellent results when they are trained to be obedient, guard or work around the needs of the people they are going to be with. They posses long term memories, probably the reason they are seen as good sniffer dogs. They love to be around people, Leaving them alone or in isolation for too long makes them irritable and they have quite an ability to sulk for long hours.

While purchasing normal colored, white or black German shepherd puppies, make sure you go to reputed dog breeders. These dogs are quite in demand, hence a huge market exists for them. They should be trained from an early age. They are quick learners and early dog training makes them highly adaptable to their environment, establishing them as pack leaders. More on german shepherd dog training. Although not aggressive in nature, they have tendency to bend towards their inherent herding nature. They feel the need to lead the pack, so it is important to set the 'who is the master' concept from an early age. Always address your puppies by their names, this makes them feel nice. To know some fabulous or unique names, look into out list of German shepherd names.

White German Shepherd Dog
A white German shepherd dog is very similar to the normal German shepherds with the exception of the white breed being totally white. No mix or streaks of other colors. Their white color gives them a beautiful delicate appeal. Some of them may appear to be on the creamier side too. The rules of training apply here too, starting early will get your white German shepherd to be an obedient dog. They are however considered to be gentler than the normal ones. They are your typical 'one man dog', with a serous show of loyalty and fidelity.

Black German Shepherd Dog
A black German shepherd is all black, though some have a few odd brown streaks here and there. But an original is all black. Because of their color, they seem to wear an aggressive look, however, their temperament is very similar to the normal colored German shepherds. The black breed is fond of open yards where they can run around without many obstacles. They too need regular grooming, to avoid their hair from getting all tangled up. They make great watchdogs and can be very protective not only of their masters but also the whole family.

All breeds of German shepherds are intelligent dogs. They will learn almost everything you train them in. In rare instances, if you do come across a bad tempered or an aggressive German shepherd, bear in mind that it is due to bad training and raising. As with all other dog breeds, the amount of love and affection you shower on a German shepherd, the same will be showered back on you, manifolds. Before you move on, don't forget to tell me what you thought about all the cute German shepherd pictures pasted above.
