Easy German Chocolate Pie
Ingredients
  • 4 ounces chopped German sweet chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 2 egg yolks beaten
  • 1 nine inch pastry shell, baked

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 cups evaporated milk

  • 1½ cups flaked coconut
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
Directions
In a mixing bowl, melt the butter and German chocolate and mix it till it's smooth and then stir in Vanilla. Keep this aside till you make the batter of the pie. In a sauce pan, combine the sugar, milk and cornstarch and mix it till it turns smooth and soft. Cook it over medium flame till it is thickened and bubbly and then reduce the heat to cook the mixture for another 2 minutes. Remove the heat and stir a small amount of this hot filling in the egg yolks and then add it to the initial pan. Stir it for some time and then place it on the heat again to bring it to boil for another 2 minutes. Remove it from the heat and add it to the chocolate mix, spoon it carefully in the pastry shell.

In another small sauce pan combine the evaporated milk, sugar and butter to cook it to boil for about 10 minutes. Ingredients
  • 3 packages cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 lightly beaten eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 4 ounces German sweet chocolate
  • 3 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 cups melted butter
Directions
In a mixing bowl, add the cracker crumbs and sugar and stir it with some melted butter. Take two 9 inches pie plates, add the crust to both of them and refrigerate them till you prepare the filling. Take another large bowl and add the cream cheese to beat it thoroughly. Once it's fluffy and soft, add the sugar, egg and vanilla and beat it again till it is soft and smooth.
