Gem of Hearts - 2
"Uh, I don't know how to break this to you but... this isn't a dream." I stare at him. He shows no sign of lying or joking. Okay, now I'm officially crazy.
I watched in a dazed shock as he swam closer. His long black hair flowing about him in the water. He approached, hands reaching out for me. I gathered enough strength to push a hand away. He ignored my attempt to get away from him and wrapped an arm around my waist. panic filled me and I passed out from a lack of oxygen.
I wake up to the soft roar of ocean waves hitting the shore. I feel fuzzy as I sit up and realize, I'm still dreaming. I feel flustered, trying to figure out why I haven't woken up yet. I slowly stand up and brush sand off me. I suddenly remember the boy from earlier, the one that saved me.
I look around the beach. No one in sight. Great. I was abandoned. I plop back down in the sand watching the waves. Hopefully I'll wake up soon. What feels like an hour goes past and nothing happens. No one comes and I don't wake up. I'm starting to wonder if I'm really asleep.
The sun begins to set and I start to feel panicked. I gaze down the beach as a something unfamiliar appears. It begins as a small dot, just like from the ocean, and becomes more clear as it comes closer. I recognize the dark hair, curling and bouncing. The boys from the ocean comes jogging up with two fish in his hands. I stand up, waiting.
"Your awake. How are you feeling?" he asks stepping closer. I step back. Just because he saved me doesn't mean I completely trust him.
"I'm okay but confused." He looked a little hurt from my action but I ignored his gaze.
"Really. About what?" He sits in the sand, the fish next to him. My stomach turns at the thought of eating it. I hate fish and any kind of seafood.
"Well, I guess about everything. This is the weirdest dream I've ever had and shouldn't I be awake by know?" A smile played across his lips and I frowned. How is this funny?
"Uh, I don't know how to break this to you but... this isn't a dream." I stare at him. He shows no sign of lying or joking. Okay, now I'm officially crazy. I pinch my arm and shut my eyes tight, willing myself to wake up from this freakish nightmare. I hear him chukle and tears form in my eyes.
"What are you doing?" I give up and sit on the ground sobbing.
"I'm trying to wake up. I don't know why this is happening but ever since that lady came the weirdest things have been happening! I want to go home." I break into a full out cry-fest as he watches me. I can tell he wants to comfort me but from what I did earlier, he's unsure if I'll let him.
"Hey, it's okay. There's a reason from everything. The town I live in is a mile from here. there might be someone there who can help you." I stopped crying. There's a town? There's a town and he left me on the beach?
"Why didn't you take me to the town right away?" I ask angrily. He holds my gaze. I realize how green his eyes are and I feel weird all of a sudden.
"Because of your necklace," he says simply. Necklace. What necklace. I looked down to see the necklace the mystery women left for me. I never put it on. This is getting more and more weird. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, which was the only way I could keep from passing out.
"What's wrong with my necklace?" He raises his eyebrows like I said something shocking.
"You don't know who you are do you Katiana?" How do all these people know my name? I shake the thought away and focus on what he says.
"You're a prophet. Your here to save us." I can't believe this!
