Gardener Calendar - Summer Time has Started

Summer is a wonderful time. It's the best time of the year for little relax in our beloved garden, in green surroundings. June is the first summer month and the first month when we can see the results of our earlier work in the garden.

Summer Garden
Garden is a magical and terrific place. It's our own secret world when we can forget about troubles of the day and even of the first half of the year. Specially when talking about summer time. Matching summer and garden we are having a couple that any other can compare. Just in spring we were happy that first trees are getting green, the flowers shows their first leaves and the sun is warmer than ever before! But there were also much to do. Now, at summer time, we also have some work but it's easier and gives more pleasure. What are summer works?

Holidays in the garden
We should transport some flowers into garden that we are having at home in pots like for example oleanders, palms. But they have to be prepared first. Few days before putting them into sunny spot and giving them a big amount of light we could them for a few hours in a shadowy place. If the plant is big we can put it from a beginning in the sunny spot but we have to cover it for a few days with a heavy paper. It is very important that they stand stable even in a windy days. Sun and fresh air will make the plants stronger and make their leaves greener.

Gathering blotters
For those who love making bouquets from blotters it is the best time to collect some flowers. And they might have a lot of work right now. The best month to start collecting flowers, grass and grains is June. We should cut the flowers until they are mature cause this way they won't fall apart while drying up. We are bounding them in small bouquets (they won't get rot) and hanging them upside down in a shadowy places like for example carports or at home (when hanging in the sun their colors are getting pale). When the summer is ending we are gathering also fruits to our storage of blotters.

If we don't have to much space in our garden for having many different plants we can use container with few levels. To make such container we will need free plant pots with big holes in the bottom. Into the hole of biggest plant pot we are putting metal bar and plough – about three quarters of pot. The smaller one we are also putting on the bar and digging it for a few centimeters to the ground. We are doing the same thing with the smallest pot. And this way we are having enough space to plant some flowers in three pots while taking place as only of the one.

The last suggestion: don't forget about vegetables. The beginning of Junie is the best time for sowing corns, pumpkins, carrots, lettuce etc. And if you like to spend your summer afternoons in the garden you will be thankful yourself for the work that you put to make it beautiful as it is. Summer time will be the best time to appreciate that and enjoy it sitting the canopy or gazebo, smelling the unforgettable smell of flowers and tasting the ice tea with your family and friends.
