Video and computer games, often referred to as electronic games, are computer programs that use a combination of text, computer graphics, video, and sound to create action, or gameplay. They range from simple games for young children to realistic and sophisticated games suitable for training aviators and oil-tanker captains. The player controls the action with a joystick or the buttons on a mouse. Frequently, different versions of the same game are available for different platforms: personal computers, arcade and hand-held game machines, or home video-game consoles that plug into a TV set.
