Galloping Sunset
A horse and rider gallop off into the sunset away from the day behind.
The thundering hooves
Kick the grains of sand,
Spraying them out in a trail of beige.
My hair blows
In the salty breeze,
As I tighten my grip.
The soft chestnut skin
Ripples beneath me,
As we pick up speed.
The abandoned beach,
Silent with the approaching night,
Floods with shades of orange and red.
We race across the empty shore.
We run from the ever closer fear.
We gallop from the day behind us.
The creature beneath me rears,
Kicking its two legs,
And I spread my arms.
As we gallop into the sunset,
I never even think of looking back,
Never once do my eyes stray from what lies ahead...
