Gadgets for Men
With technology improving at a faster rate everyday, inventors are coming up with more and more gadgets that were once thought to be impossible to make. Almost everyday there is a new product in the market that people are drooling over. Of course, while it is not possible to own them all (except for maybe a handful of people), there is no reason why we can't compile a list of the best of them. Who knows, you might be the next lottery winner, or receive a huge windfall, and be able to change this wishlist to a shopping list.

Taken randomly, the following is a list of the ten must have gadgets that almost anyone would like to own. A piece of friendly advice, the drool factor is high, take adequate precautions. Well, don't say I didn't warn you. Another thing, this list is a random choice and does not follow any chronological or numerical order. That being said, let's move on to these goodies. Slurp.

Ten Must Have Gadgets

iPhone: Apple's most successful product by far, what's not to like in the Apple iPhone. A revolutionary device, boasting of technology unprecedented in the mobile industry, makes this a highly sought gadget on anyone's list. Including features that most manufacturers are still trying to match, owing this will put you a little above the rest. And to top it all, besides the cool and drool factor, this gadget works just as well as Apple claims it would. Combining entertainment with business, you could never go wrong buying an Apple iPhone. It has a camera, an iPod, a capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch, various sensors to make using it easier, and is a very good phone. A must have for sure. Read more on the Apple iPhone.

iPod Touch 64 GB: Another of Apple's products. Do I need to say more? It has all the features of the iPhone except the phone capabilities. With a mammoth 64 gig of memory, all your music can now travel with you. Built in Wi-Fi seals the deal, making it a very good option for surfing the net, playing multi-player games, checking mail, etc. Supports mpeg4 movie formats as well, so you can watch movies on its brilliant 3.5 inch screen. The sleekness and drool factor just needs to be seen to believed. Wonderful what Apple can achieve in such a thin and sleek device. Another must have. Read more on the Apple iPod.

Panasonic TCPV10: Setting you back by almost more than $2000, this is one helluva expensive TV. But the cost seems well justified when this 50 inch monster TV is switched on. Even while not on, the seamless look provided by the 'single sheet of glass over the bezel' design, will have you drooling for sure. Capable of flicker-less 1080p/24 video playback, this monster will take watching movies at home to a whole new level. This TV also offers a plethora of connectivity options, with 4 HDMI ports, 2 component video ports, PC connectivity, AV connectivity, and, get this, an ethernet port for network connections. It also comes with a THX Display Certification. Videophiles will appreciate the 96Hz refresh rate, which allows for perfect picture viewing (read: without flicker) when a 1080p/24 source (read: Blu-Ray Player) is connected. Expensive, but a gadget worth having and thus worth being on the must have list.

Nintendo DSi: Nintendo has already earned it name in the gaming field with its previous products. The DSi is no different. It is the third-in-line of the Nintendo DS series, the other two being the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite. The most amazing feature of this hand-held gaming device, and also one that sets it apart from the competition, is its ability to use the dual cameras on it in active game play. Oh, didn't we mention the cameras? Well, the DSi sports two interactive cameras that besides being interactively used in game play, can be used as normal cameras as well. Coming with 2 ARM processors, 256 MB internal memory (with up to 32 GB supported with SDHC cards), and Wi-Fi connectivity, this portable gaming device is all set to blow your mind away. With more than 6 million units sold in less than a year of its launch, this is another gem that deserves a mention on the must have list.

Alienware MX17: The cost of this baby will send you into shock. Though if truth be told, calling this a baby is the understatement of the millennium. The Alienware MX17 is a gamers paradise. Sporting everything that even the most hardcore gamer will want, this laptop (I don't suggest you do keep it on your lap though) can finally be called a desktop gamer's replacement. The company has even gone so far so as to call it the 'most powerful 17 inch laptop in the universe'. Bold, you think? Well it certainly lives up to that with its monster specifications. It runs an Intel Quad Core Extreme processor, comes with a whopping 8GB RAM, and has, get this, TWO GTX 280M graphic cards, running in SLI. Wait, there's more! Vista 64-bit, a Blu-Ray drive, 1 TB hard disk, HDMI ports, a display port, and a mind-blowing 1080p screen completes the specs. Whew! Specifications aside, this is on the list for a simple reason, even without the specs, the look of this laptop is more than enough for it to make it on any must have list. With its indescribable looks, this has to be seen to be believed.

Sony Vaio Mini: Sony products have always been something different, and this laptop is no exception. Entering the netbook craze, Sony has unleashed its power in a new design. With the popularity of netbooks increasing with every passing day, almost all the major computer manufacturers have started releasing their own versions of netbooks. While most of these end up similar - thanks to pricing issues - Sony has a refreshing deal in store. Called the Sony Mini, the netbook is just a little larger than an envelope. Yes, that's right. An envelope. And yes, it will fit in your pocket, though keeping it there is not recommended. Tagged the 'Ultraportable Lifestyle PC', this is a sure stand out from all the other regular netbooks floating around. Being longer than taller gives it an interesting 1600x768 screen resolution, not found on any of the other netbooks. Unfortunately, as with all the things on the must have list, the Sony Vaio is just a tad expensive for an 8-inch laptop. Its form factor, though, (imagine slipping it into a pocket) makes it a definite must have.

Bluetooth MP3 Sunglasses: Almost everyone, irrespective of age, listens to music. For the better part of the last two decades, the cassette tape was probably the most used medium to listen to music. The invention of CDs meant better quality music and longer usage life. With the advent of the MP3 compression format, MP3s have become the most used medium to store and listen to music. This gave rise to a whole range of MP players, and as time passed, innovative and more convenient MP3 players evolved. The last few years have seen the size of MP3 players shrink considerably, making them easier to carry around. The latest in these is the Bluetooth MP3 sunglasses. These offer you protection from the sun in addition to allowing you to listen to music without worrying about wires getting in the way. They can also be connected to most Bluetooth devices, including your phone for wire free communication and music experience. A bikers dream. With major sunglass manufacturers (read: Oakley) getting into the fray, this is another must have in anyone's gadget arsenal.

Portable LaCie LaCinema Rugged Hard Disk: This is a welcome change from all the other 'normal' portable hard disks out there. The LaCinema allows you to enjoy movies stored on it on any High Definition Television (HDTV). Besides playing movies, the LaCinema also connects to HDTVs to display your images and listen to music. It comes with a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port that allows you to upscale your movies to HD, and your images to full HD resolution. All these features are encased in a varnished, aluminum shell, which is scratch resistant. For extra protection, it also features a shock-resistant rubber sleeve, thus making it a rugged and portable storage solution. Best of all, it comes with a remote control, so you can just plug it to your HDTV or HD monitor, and sit back and enjoy browsing through your entire collection. Allowing you to watch HD content on the go, this HDD is another of the must haves.

Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard: This is one hell of a keyboard. With the amount of functions available on this beast, one wonders if the word 'keyboard' is the appropriate term to use for it. The most striking aspect of this simply breathtaking keyboard is a color LCD display in the top center. Yes, that's right. Color! LCD! Yes, this is still a keyboard we are talking about. The more amazing part is that you can watch you tube videos, or stream RSS feeds on this screen. You can watch movies on this screen. You can use it as a personal picture frame. The mundane among you can even use it to cycle through system resources. With support for over 60+ games, all the gamers will be drooling over this one for sure. With multiple macro keys giving you up to 36 macro combinations, everything becomes so much easier. Plus it supports custom colors on backlit keys, allowing you to easily distinguish between buttons. One hell of a keyboard to have connected to your gaming machine. With its stunning looks and 320x240 color LCD, this is one computer keyboard that deserves a mention in the must have gadgets list.

Amazon Kindle DX: With ebooks becoming the next big thing, Amazon has found a way that takes carrying a book on a train or flight to a whole new level. The Kindle DX is a ebook reader, allowing users to read various content on the go. With support for most publications, newspapers, and magazines, in addition to books, the Kindle makes getting what you like to read the easiest task in the world. With features such as an auto rotating screen, built-in pdf reader, wireless connectivity, large display, and huge memory, the Kindle DX is a boon for avid readers. Using an E Ink electronic paper display, reading on the Kindle is even better and not as harmful as reading normal paper books! Amazon says that the experience on reading on the Kindle is much better that reading on any other computer screen or hand-held device, and is almost similar to normal paperback reading. With over a 100,000 titles available, and a host of other features, the Kindle DX seems to be the best ebook reader around. A definite yes for anyone who loves reading.

Unfortunately, most of these items on the must have list are way too expensive. But at the rate at which technology is advancing, the prices are sure to come down in the near future. The flip side is that by the time the prices come down, technology will have advanced so far, that there will be far better items to include in must have lists. Till then, there is no harm in looking at these technological marvels and wishing that we had them all. You never know, you just never know!!!
