Funny Skits
They say laughter is the elixir of life, and bringing a smile to someone is the noblest act. Funny skits are therefore highly regarded when it comes to entertainment...

Funny Skit Ideas
There are many short skits that we have seen in camp or at our local school, some are hilarious and some are gross yet funny. Depending on the audience you have, decide on a skit which does not insult anyone in particular and is not offensive. After all, the motive behind a funny skit is to make people laugh and not antagonize them. There are a few other things that you need to keep in mind before you choose a skit. When choosing funny skits for kids, make sure you can arrange all the necessary props and are aware of your audience preferences. If you are thinking funny skits for talent shows, just props won't get you all the way, you need to capture the essence of the skit in the dialogs and showcase your acting prowess. Below are a couple of examples of funny skits that might appeal to you:
- 'Mind your Language' a funny British T.V. serial about a bunch of foreigners from different countries trying to learn the English language. To perform this skit you will need a couple of actors to represent different countries you want to showcase and an English teacher. The foreigners would talk in different accents and could ask funny questions. This is also a good way of educating kids in geography and the cultures around the world.
- A skit about superheroes doing funny things is also quite popular with kids. Have different superheroes like Spiderman, Batman and Superman coming to the rescue of people stuck in funny situations. These superheroes could be shown rescuing someone stuck in a toilet, caught in a tree house without a ladder, or being rescued from the clutches of an evil teacher.
- Have two characters, one a customer service agent and one customer, and write a funny banter between these two. Try and inculcate some hearing problems and some wrong advice, for example if the customer wants baking powder have the agent offer itching powder. Other things you could induct are an agent trying to sell a coffin or graveyard space over the phone on someone's birthday or anniversary.
- A great skit idea is to have a newscaster interviewing a politician and asking weird questions. Have questions about the constituency the politician does not belong to or ask silly questions about weather and sports controversies. You could also incorporate policy making questions that tickle the funny bone of your audience and have the politician give funny answers.
Comedy is in the words we use, and words can weave magic and should be used in a way to have a desired effect. When you are acting out a skit, make sure it is laden with funny sentences for comic relief. The choice of sentences should be directly co-related to your audience. The sentence delivery is as important as the words in the sentence, so make sure you have that right. You could also use some famous funny movie quotes to get your audience doubling over in laughter. Other sentences you could use include:
- The glass is full empty
- Boxing rings are square
- Please apologize with a sorry
- If elephants could fly we would all be running for cover
