  • The warm, dark and moist conditions present under the breasts are ideal for the fungus to thrive on and spread. It has been observed that moist skin is more susceptible to fungal infection as compared to dry skin. People, who perspire heavily, often have fungal infections.
  • Usually, fungal infections result as secondary infections, where there is persistent chaffing of the skin or an injury to the skin.
  • Cuts on the skin can give rise to fungal infections, under conducive conditions.
  • If the women wear incorrect or tight fitting bras for extended periods of time, it can lead to a fungal rash under breast.
  • Obese women or women with large breasts are more prone to fungal infection, than women with smaller busts.
  • If a woman already suffers from skin infections or skin disorders, like psoriasis or eczema, she will be more prone to fungal infections.
  • If already suffering from fungal infections on any other part of the body, like fungal rash on back, fungal rash on legs, etc., it can spread and cause fungal infection under breasts as well.

Symptoms of Fungal Rash Under Breast
The common symptoms of fungal rash will depend on the part of the body the rash is on. The most important symptom of fungal rash is that it is often fiery red in color and usually affects a large area. The color is darker at the center and lightens towards the outer limits. If fungal rash is seen on the scalp, it can lead to hair loss. It should not be confused with other skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema. Fungal rash can have small lesions on the outside perimeter of the rash. A fungal skin rash is accompanied by itching and burning.

If left unattended, the skin rash can remain for years, causing discoloration and the hardening of the skin. It is often observed that most of the skin fungal infections are caused by candida. Treatment of fungal rashes depends on the kind of rash it is. Application of topical and antifungal creams usually helps in treating fungal infections. If the rash is moist, application of antifungal powder is recommended. The antifungal powder needs to be dusted on the infected area and the excess of it can be brushed off. In case of severe fungal infection, oral antifungal medicine may be required. If you are diabetic make sure your blood sugar level is under control.

A simple home treatment is the application of an ice pack for 5 to 10 minutes. Clean the area with soap and water. Make sure the area is dry and then dust antifungal powder, over the area. Take sure there is no moisture accumulation, you can dust baby powder around the area. Use of a loose, comfortable bra and clothing is recommended.
