The famous medical and research institutes such as John Hopkins University, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Celera Genomics, Human Genome Sciences (HGS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are located in Maryland.

There are over 350 biotechnological firms in Maryland making it a hub for life sciences. Apart from that, Maryland is a center for tourist attraction. There are many fun things to do during your vacation in Maryland.

There are many places of tourist attraction in Maryland. Each and every city of Maryland would have something or the other to offer to the tourists from around the world. Baltimore and Annapolis are the cities that cater to maximum number of tourists. Take a look at a few places that you can visit, while touring Maryland.

Fort Washington Park: Fort Washington was built on a high ground overlooking the River Potomac. This fort gives a mesmerizing and grand view of the shorelines of Virginia and Washington. Fort Washington is one of the oldest seacoast forts that are still intact.

Along with the Fort, there is a park with many historical monuments and structures that imprint the presence of a rich history of the bygone days. Fort Washington Park occupies an area of 341 acres and offers an assortment of recreational opportunities to the tourists. There are areas reserved for picnics, hiking and biking trails. It would be a wonderful experience altogether.

Ocean City: One of the tourist spots worth visiting when you are in Baltimore is Ocean City. This spot is a weekend getaway for the nature and beach lovers. A few of the fun things to do in Baltimore's Ocean City are deep-sea fishing, sailing, cruising and windsurfing. One of the pastimes of many of the tourists is to just lounge on the beach.

Washington Temple: Washington Temple is worth a visit as it is the largest Mormon temple in the world. This temple is situated on 57 acres of land in Kensington, Maryland.

The Brunswick Railroad Museum: The exhibits in the museum take you back to the 19th century. Brunswick Railroad Museum exhibits railroad tools and artifacts. It also tells you about the life of the people who were railroad workers residing in Baltimore. This museum catches the interest of all tourists, irrespective of age. One of the attractions for children in Brunswick Railroad Museum is "Hands on History", an educational playroom.

Baltimore National Aquarium: Baltimore National Aquarium is located in Baltimore and it hosts many events and programs for toddlers and children of various age groups. There are many activities such as music and dance, education on aquatic animals and so on. On certain days, an animal encounter event is also held. Children would have great fun participating in these activities.

Nightlife is wonderful and fun in Maryland. There are many entertainment complexes with live music, bars and pubs. There are also disco clubs, where you could dance your night away.
