Whether you are planning a birthday, Halloween, Valentine's day or a graduation party, its success will depend upon the time and effort you devote in its preparation. Party planning, which includes planning for the food that will be served at the party, invitations that you will send out, decorations for the venue and the games and other activities that will be conducted there, has to be done in time and appropriately so that people who are invited, can have fun and enjoy themselves completely at your party. If you have a party coming up, then given below are some fun ideas that will help you out.

Choose a Theme
Revolving your party around a theme can be lots of fun. Right from the venue decoration to the dress code, the music and food at the party, should be based upon the theme chosen. One of the easiest to plan themes, is to host a wine tasting party. For this, you can ask your guests to get a bottle each of their favorite wine with them. This wine can be shared among all the guests. You can serve some good quality cheese, bread and appetizers as food in this party.

If you plan to make your party fun, then you can choose fun themes such as a retro. In this party, everybody can come dressed in retro clothes. You can play music from the seventies and the eighties and have your guests dance on these foot tapping numbers. For such a party, the decor will be incomplete without a dance floor and some good disco lighting, so do not forget to include these as well. If it's your birthday party that you are planning, then one of the fun ideas is to dress up as Elvis Presley i.e white bell bottoms, thick side burns, etc. and enjoy dancing with your friends and family to his numbers.

"Hippies Night" is another theme for a party to which only friends are invited. Keep the dress code "bohemian", music "rock and roll" and alcohol "free-flowing" and no other preparation is required for this party.

Send out Unique Invitations
Creatively crafted invitations can increase the anticipation regarding the party and serve as an excellent prelude to it. If you have time and if the invitees are close friends and family, you can send out hand-made party invitations. If the party gathering is mainly of friends, acquaintances or office colleagues, you can get ready-made invitations from some websites which offer it free. All you have to do is to take their print out and fill in your wording.

Offer Variety in Food Spread
As far as the food is concerned, offer lots of options to your guests. This does not necessarily mean that you have to spend a lot on food, you can include lots of snacks which people can eat while engaged in a conversation at the party such as chicken lollipops, sandwiches, chicken shawarma, croissants and fish fingers. Fast food items such as pizzas, burgers, and pasta, make for excellent food items too.

Have Fun with Games
Include lots of games and activities in your party to make it fun and exciting. If it's a party for couples, then including things like couple quizzes and paper dances will keep up the fun quotient. Here are two fun party games that you can include as well.

# 1
To play this game, stand with your guests in a circle. Holding an empty beer bottle say, "I love you my dear and I want to kiss you on your forehead", follow this up by kissing the bottle from the top. Pass the beer bottle to the person standing next to you. This person too has to repeat the same words but choose a different body part, say feet and kiss the bottom of the bottle. Like this, the bottle is passed throughout the circle, from one guest to another, till it reaches the host. From here on, the fun starts. Starting from you, everybody has to repeat the same sentence, replacing "dear" with the name of the person standing next to them and kissing him or her on the same body part as they mentioned earlier.

# 2
This game can be played in parties where lots of guests are invited. This game is started with you taking the name of a famous personality such as Rafael Nadal, the person sitting next to you now has to name another famous person whose name starts with the last alphabet of the previous name, in this case "L". If he is not able to do that, he has to take one tequila shot or gulp down a pint of beer in one go. Then the alphabet passes on to the next person who now has to name a famous person or have a drink instead. With so much drinking, after a while, it virtually becomes impossible to think of names and the game can become extremely funny.

I hope the above mentioned ideas help you out when you are planning your party. Best of luck!
