Fun Indoor Party Games
If you are planning to throw a party for your child's birthday, your marriage anniversary, or for any other occasion, indoor party games are a great way of enlivening the party atmosphere. They are especially ideal during hot summer, chilling winter or boring rainy days, when it is not possible to entertain your guests with outdoor games. Let's take a look at some fun indoor games to brighten up your party.

Indoor Party Game Ideas

Musical chairs is a very popular party game that can be enjoyed by children as well as adults. To play this game, you need to arrange chairs in a circle, but make sure to keep one chair less than the number of guests or participants. The rule of the game is for everyone to walk around the length of the chairs, while music is being played. When the music stops, each one has to occupy one of the chairs. As there is one chair less, there is usually a scramble to get a chair, and whosoever fails to occupy a chair is out of the game. Each time a person goes out of the game, one chair should be removed and in this way the game is repeated, until only two players are left. Now, the one who succeeds in occupying the single chair is the winner of the game.

Miming, also called dumb charade is a very creative and imaginative game. In this game, an individual has to enact a particular situation or theme, solely by facial expressions and body movements. Participants can also dress up in different ways to portray the character they are play-acting, which can be real fun.

Another popular game is to prepare cards, which mention different activities, like dancing, singing, acting, mimicry etc. written on them. These cards are folded and put in a bowl or a container. Then, guests are asked to pick a card, one by one, and do the activity mentioned on the card. This is a slight variation of the common passing-the-parcel game.

Quizzing can be an interesting indoor game for people of all age groups. Make two teams of all the guests, and pose questions to each team. Allow each team 30 seconds to a minute, for answering each question, so that members of a team can consult among themselves to find the right answer. The team that is able to give maximum correct answers would be the winner of the game.

A guessing game can be really amusing for your guests. To play this game, first divide the guests into two groups. Each group has to express an activity, or a thing by facial expressions and body movements, without uttering a single word. The other team has to guess by observing those movements.

You can also play the music of some famous songs for few seconds, and let your guest guess the names of those songs. Also encourage them to sing a few lines of the song, which would make it more enjoyable.

Fun Party Games

Another indoor party game is dancing with a ball or a balloon. This game is played by pairs with a ball or balloon placed between their foreheads, and then dancing without dropping it. If the ball drops, then that particular couple or pair goes out of the game. This game is generally repeated until only one pair is left.

Give a phrase or a sentence, generally on the theme of your party, and ask your guests to make as many new words from it, as possible, by various combination of the letters. Give each one of them paper and pen to write down these words. The one who can come up with the maximum number of correct words would be the winner of this competition. This game is very suitable for children, but can be enjoyed by adults as well.

Treasure hunt game is an all-time favorite among the kids. You can place some chocolates or toys wrapped in gift papers, and hide them in different corners of your room or in your furniture. Children really enjoy hunting out these treasures.

You can play a very interesting game with a pack of playing cards. In this game, each person has to pick up one card and show it to the others, but cannot see it himself. However, he is allowed to see the cards of the other players, and ask one question to each player regarding his card, like whether his card value is lower or higher than the card of that particular player. Thus he can get some clues, and with the help of them he has to identify his own card.

By selecting a combination of fun indoor games, you can make each moment of your party enjoyable and exhilarating. Encourage everyone to participate in the games by arousing their interest, but don't force anyone. If the party is for children, then give something as a gift to each of them. This would make them happy and would prompt them to participate in the games. To sum up, make your party as enjoyable as possible, with creative and funny indoor games.
