Fuel-induced Famine triggers Genocide in Beni-shangoul, Neo-Nazi Abyssinia (Fake ‘Ethiopia’)

I expanded many times about Oromia, Ogaden, Sidama Land, and Anuak Land that have been some of the foreign lands that the Abyssinians invaded and annexed over the past 150 years. This time, I will focus on Beni-shangoul – Gumuz, a foreign land invaded before 110 years by the then expanding, colonial Abyssinian kingdom, a province that is located on the borderline with Sudan.
What happened to Beni-shangoul – Gumuz is a combination of Neo-Nazi Abyssinian totalitarianism and direct foreign agro-fuel investment. I had expected many negative developments to come to pass in Beni-shangoul – Gumuz, when last summer I read a report related to the remote and quasi-forgotten land in the world leading portal www.grain.org. I re-publish three key paragraphs under the report’s part that is entitled:
Ethiopia – Setting the Scene for Fuel-induced Famine
The agrofuel industry is very active in Ethiopia, and the government is doing all it can to attract foreign investment. The most popular crop is jatropha, followed by castor beans and some palm oil in the coffee-growing regions, all of which are to be used to produce biodiesel. There are also moves afoot to establish an ethanol industry and to introduce new, specially bred varieties of sorghum, maize and sunflower. These would, the companies claim, reduce the country’s dependence on foreign food aid and strengthen the food security of rural communities. Pressure on land is intense, as the population is growing and 85 per cent of the country’s inhabitants still depend on the land for their livelihoods. Few families have secure land titles, which is one reason why it is fairly easy for foreign companies to acquire land.
Another company, Sun Biofuels, has signed a lease agreement with the Benshangul Gumuz Regional State government for 80,000 hectares of land. It has also purchased 80 per cent of the National Biodiesel Corporation of Ethiopia as part of its programme to strengthen its presence in Ethiopia prior to investing in the whole of East Africa. It is reported to have helped to draft the Ethiopian Biofuels Strategy, which establishes the country’s overall agrofuels programme. The company is carrying out land surveys, and planning with the government which areas should be devoted to agrofuels.
There are now a number of foreign agrofuel companies operating in Ethiopia. Officially 196,000 hectares of land have been granted but, if one counts land under negotiation, the total increases to 1.15 million hectares. Ethiopia has identified 17.2 million hectares as suitable for jatropha, of which 1.7 million, located in the Borena, Bale and Arsi zones, are regarded as highly suitable. These areas have annual rainfall of 900–1300 mm. (http://www.grain.org/seedling/?id=481)
The Next Genocide in Abyssinia
As reaction against the bio-fuel criminal paranoia grows allover the world, and in Abyssinia the worst is anticipated for Beni-shangoul – Gumuz, the Neo-Nazi government of the Tigray dictator Zenawi took already the first measures towards what is expected to be the Next Genocide in Abyssinia.
The preparatory events started in Beni-shangoul – Gumuz, and a courageous Beni-shangoul Human Rights Advocate, Mr. Khalid Nasser, has just published a first report of the Neo-Nazi Abyssinian atrocities that took place in Beni Shangoull-Gumuz over the past weeks. I republish here Mr. Khalid Nasser’s report integrally.
I strongly advise every person with moral standards and humanist principles to express solidarity with the tyrannized people of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz, and to denounce the Amhara and Tigray Abyssinian Neo-Nazism.
Even more markedly I advise the leaders of all the Liberation Fronts from other parts of the Neo-Nazi, colonial ‘Ethiopian’ empire to immediately contact Mr. Khalid Nasser, and coordinate their actions in view of the much needed, total destruction of the Neo-Nazi ‘Ethiopian’ state.
Turmoil in Beni-shangoul – Gumuz leads to Federal Parliament Member arrest, and firing Regional Vice President
By Khalid Nasser, Beni-shangoul Human Rights Advocate
http://www.ogaden.com/ben170508.htm
The regional state of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz is located in the north-western part of Ethiopia. Beni-shangoul became part of Ethiopia in 1898. The capital city is Asossa. Beni-shangoul population is estimated to be 4000000, more than the half of this population has been deprived of their land to live in Sudan.
The aim of this article is to draw international communities attention to several incidents of human rights violations committed by Tigray minority led government against the people of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz. Over hundreds of people have been detained and remain detained without charges in Asossa, Menge, and Chagne, in the military prisons. We urge international NGO’s to investigate and put pressure on Tigray led government to stop executing civilians for no reason.
The region of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz has resisted previous dictator Mengistu through all possible methods to establish democracy. The revolution against Mengistu dictatorship has contributed to the establishment of a democratic government in Ethiopia. Since the formation of regional government in Beni-shangoul in 1991, people have been lacking security, and they blame the government for being short of peace, security, justice, development, social services and stability.
Abyssinian Plan for Genocide in Beni-shangoul – Gumuz / Phase 1
The political situation has never been predictable and effective in the region. The conspiracy and self-interest of the TPLF (Tigray People Liberation Front) has played a significant role in creating turmoil and atrocities in Bella-shangoul State. This region did not experience any kind of stability and prosperity due to TPLF elite interference in the regional affair. The TPLF intentionally caused divisions among ethnic groups in Bella-shangoul in order to exploit the resources of the region for the development of Tigray. The government’s political predicament in this region affected the development program. The Bela Shangoull region is a simple example of the TPLF policy failure in Ethiopia.
Recently TPLF defence forces waged war in the region, committing various types of crimes against innocent civilians and politicians. The Tigray elite forces have deprived the Beni-shangoul – Gumuz people from their own regional affairs. They have violated the most basic human rights, treating the people in this region as if they are less than human, undeserving respect and dignity.
We urge the international community to limit the unrestricted power of the TPLF elite government in order to ease the life of this region’s people. The government has committed crimes against humanity in Beni-shangoul – Gumuz region, many people have been killed, tortured, houses burned, properties confiscated, innocent civilian imprisoned, many are beaten day after day.
The people of the region rejected the minority Tigray led government, demanding the government for peace and stability in the region. The people of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz have addressed their demands to the government. As result, the government has increased the presence of Tigray militia, causing difficulties of movement between villages.
The people have explained that they have supported the overthrow of the brutal Derg dictatorship to have more development projects in the region, but unfortunately the government promises were not fulfilled. The government has infringed the rights and the dignity of Bela Shangoul people. The Tigray led government carries out tortures, beating, killing, and imprisonment that had never been experienced in the region before.
The escalation of violence in the region made the government take unprecedented step. On Thursday 01.05.2008, the government sent in the region senior TPLF leadership, and more specifically Mr. Abai Tsai, Mr. Germa Sayoun, and Mr. Siraj. Mr. Aabi held meetings with the people in the region.
In these meetings, he threatened the people that he is going to inflict atrocities on the people of the region like that they did in Gambella.
Massive, ethnic-based dismissal
On Saturday 03.05.2008, Mr. Abai took action against the civilians of Beni-shangoul, who were working in his government, in order to frighten the people so that they do not to pose any question to the minority Tigray ethnic led government.
This action can be described as a war waged by the Tigray led government against itself, because those people against whom they took action were all their loyal servants; however, they took that step in order to terrorise the people of Beni-shangoul.
Regional Vice President and Parliament Representative arrested as Prelude to Genocide
The name of those whom the Tigray government has taken as scapegoats are:
- the Vice President of the region, Mr. Sabil Albakhit, and
- the Regional Representative to the Federal Parliament, Mr. Zaruqe Hamdan Abdullah, and so many others thrown out of their jobs.
On Sunday 04.05.2008, Mr. Abai took the decision to arrest the Vice President, Mr. Sabil Albakhit, and the Parliament Representative Mr. Zaruqe. In addition, Mr. Abai ordered his secret police forces to arrest the Khomosha district administrator, and the Asossa Zone Mayor.
Incommunicado
The TPLF forces terrorized people before they carried out the arrest; they spread rumours that the Vice President had left the country. The people of the region had no knowledge of what happened to Mr. Sabil and the dismissed administrators. Two days later, the people found out that the government security had taken Mr. Sabil and all the others to the secret, Tigray-controlled security camp where they are now being beaten and tortured physically and psychologically.
On Sunday 04.05.2008, the government secret policemen arrested Mr. Zaruqe in Mandi. Mr. Zaruqe is the member of federal parliament who has been elected by the people of Beni-shangoul – Gumuz. He was detained on his way to Asossa from Addis Ababa.
The visit of Mr. Abai to the region has escalated the confrontation. We consider his visits to the region as a dark day in the history of the region. His visits to the region aimed at terrorizing the people after the successfully spread civil resistance to the TPLF ethnic minority led government for their interference in the regional affairs. The imprisonment has extended, including many people from villages.
In a forthcoming, we will publish the second part of Mr. Khalid Nasser’s report.
