French Bread Pizza Recipes
Pizzas have originated from Italian cuisine and make a scrumptious dish, which can be served for lunch or dinner or had as a snack. Read on for some luscious French bread pizza recipes.
Delicious Sausage Pepper French Bread Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 can of 14.5-ounce diced tomatoes
- 1½ cups sliced onion
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup red bell pepper strips
- 1 loaf French bread, cut in half horizontally
- ¼ tsp. crushed red pepper
- 2 links turkey Italian sausage
Heat a large skillet with cooking spray, on medium-high heat and add sliced onion and bell pepper strips, and sauté. Add sausage (from which casings have been removed) to the pan and cook for 5 minutes or until lightly browned. Now put the crushed red pepper and diced tomatoes and cook for 5 more minutes or till the mixture thickens, whichever is earlier. Spread the sausage mixture on cut sides of bread and sprinkle evenly with cheese. Now for baking, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F and place the bread halves on a baking sheet. Bake the pizza for 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts, and cut each pizza in half before serving.
French Bread Pizza with Chicken
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup finely-diced red bell pepper
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- ¾ cup grated asiago or romano cheese
- 2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 sixteen oz. loaf French bread
- ½ tsp. black pepper
- 2 tbsp. minced garlic
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp. dried basil
Put softened butter, olive oil, grated asiago or romano cheese, minced garlic, dried basil, red bell pepper, and black pepper in a small bowl and stir the ingredients. Slice the french bread into two halves and cut each half into three pieces. Now spread the butter mixture over each piece and top it with rotisserie chicken. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheeses over chicken and bake the pizza for 8-12 minutes in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F. This recipe provides an excellent way to use leftover chicken or rotisserie chicken, and can be served for lunch, dinner or as a snack.
French Bread Pizza with Tomato Pasta Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 packs, each of 150g mozzarella which is drained and torn into pieces
- 290g jar chargrilled artichoke hearts in olive oil
- 150g thinly sliced salami
- 2 tbsp. tomato pasta sauce from a jar
- 75g pitted black olives
- 2 short fat French sticks
- Handful torn fresh basil leaves
Cut the French sticks into two equal halves and place them, cut-side up, on a baking sheet. Spread tomato pasta sauce on each piece and drain the artichoke hearts on a separate platter. Halve each heart and divide between the pizza bases, along with the olives, basil and salami. Spread the mozzarella over the top and put a grind of black pepper. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and bake the pizza for 10 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the bread is lightly golden. Serve the pizza with a crisp green salad.
Instead of ordering out for pizza the next time, it's good to prepare an easy French bread pizza at home, using ingredients which are easily available. By preparing it at home, one can make it as healthy as one likes, by controlling the amount of cheese, meat and vegetables that are added.
