Framing a Poster

Rather than sticking a poster directly to the wall, you should try framing your poster. If you pick the right frame it can make your poster look better than ever.
Framing a poster is not the same as framing a normal picture. For normal pictures you can generally find standard size picture frames, whereas this is generally not the case for posters. There are some stores out there that do sell frames specifically made for posters as long as the poster is a standard size so make sure to keep an eye out for these specialty frames.

Posters come in all shapes and sizes so you might want to consider a collage picture frame for a perfect fit on a collage picture. Shopping for posters online can save you quite a bit of money so you might want to keep this in mind as well.

Always make sure to measure before you even head to the store. It is an all too common mistake to get to the store and forget what size frame you needed. Generally the package will have two measurements so make sure you read carefully. The first measurement will be the size of the poster it is designed for and the second will be the size of the poster once it is framed within the frame.

Poster frames generally come with either a glass front or a plastic front. If you are looking to frame your favorite picture of Britney Spears then you should choose the plastic front. However if you have a vintage movie poster of Gone with the Wind then choose the glass frame. If you are even more into the movie theme then you might even be able to pick up a used movie poster frame from a theater is that is going out of business. This way you can get the true movie theater experience for your home theater.

Because there are so many different types of poster frames, you need to be careful that you pick something that is going to go well with your house. If you are a teenager looking to frame a poster in your room, then do not go all out with a museum quality frame. However, there can be some cases where a museum quality frame is the right decision. Just make sure that your frame is not taking away from the actual poster itself.

Most people choose to post their posters without a frame at all. In many cases this can be the best decision because poster frames can become quite expensive rather quickly. You should not put a $30 poster frame on a $5 poster unless you really are in love with that poster. Unless you really have a strong suspicion that the value of your poster is going to increase, just go ahead and hang it on the wall without a frame. After all, that is what posters are made for.
