Four Secrets To Younger Skin

Want to know the 4 steps to younger looking skin? Then find out in this article right here.
You have undoubtedly read many articles about how big a part your diet can play in keeping your skin young and healthy. But if you could take only one piece of advice from all the information in those articles about how to keep your skin wrinkle-free, do you know which piece of advice it should be? You might be surprised to learn that of all the millions of words which have been written on caring for your skin, the most important suggestion you can follow is the one which involves no special vitamins, skin creams, or surgical procedures. It does, however, involve a substance which is almost universally available and costs very little. You have it right now in at least two of the rooms in your home.

1. That’s right, plain water is the most important ingredient in your skin care regimen!

Water flushes the toxins from system, and hydrates your skin so that it remains smooth and free of noticeable wrinkles. Adequate water consumption is the foundation of healthy skin, but there are a few other tips you can follow to maximize its benefits.

2. Make sure you are getting an adequate amount of Vitamin C in your daily diet.

Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants known, and is best consumed in whole foods rather than in dietary supplements. A single orange a day will do the trick, and research has found that those who consumed their Vitamin C in whole foods developed far fewer wrinkles than those who got it in supplement form.

3. Complement your Vitamin C consumption with linoleic and Omega 6 fatty acids, which will combat wrinkles, dryness and thinning, aging skin.

You can get plenty of both by using safflower, sesame, or sunflower oils, or snacking on nuts. Eggs are also a good source of these fatty acids. So as you can see, the omega 3's from salmon and other oily fish is good for our heart, and it's related oil, the omega 6 seems to be good for our skin.

But take these in moderation as too much oil can put on weight.

4. Finally, avoid refined carbohydrates like sugar and white flour as much as you can.

Eating them regularly is an invitation to wrinkles, because sugar causes glycation, which damages the structure of the collagen fibers which give the skin firmness and elasticity. Without healthy collagen you are certain to have the sagging skin and wrinkles which proclaim old age. High GI carbohydrates also cause more oxidative damage than low GI carbohydrates. What are low GI foods? They are multigrain breads instead of white bread, Basmati rice, most vegetables (except white potatoes), fish and lean meats. So there you have it.

You probably already know that your skin and your entire body will benefit from a diet rich in antioxidants and other nutrients, but you may not have known how important they are in keeping your skin from aging. So why not head for the kitchen and pour yourself a nice tall glass of water? If you are concerned about chemicals in your water supply, a water filter is as near as your home improvement store!

Just get in the water habit, and watch as your newly hydrated skin becomes softer and more supple. You’ll know that you are doing the single most important thing you can to keep those wrinkles far away!
