Four Lines

The rambling thoughts of a person (read:me) told to write a poem in four lines.........beats the purpose I know, but just thought I'd share.......
Four Lines
Four lines I was told to write,
Four lines of rhyming prose;
Four lines to give to people,
A poet's daily dose.

Four lines I thought to myself,
Can't be too hard for me;
Four lines of meaningless ramble,
For all the world to see.

I wondered what to capture,
In just four lines of text;
It seemed too few for me,
I sat there stumped and vexed.

Four lines cant talk of anything,
Anything worthwhile I do mean;
But four lines is what I will write,
Insignificant though it may seem.

So please excuse the ramblings,
Of a thoroughly disgusted soul;
For even though it is a hard task,
I will do as I am told.

For grains of sand make up the desert,
And drops of water the seas;
So in four lines of rhyming poetry,
The world I shall try to please.

Four lines I was told to write,
And my four lines are now complete;
Four lines to share with others,
And beat a hasty retreat!
