I trained my eyes to stay away from Jasper’s face as he drove, I didn’t want the lines of anger on his face cause me to break down. I knew he was angry; his hands clenched the steering wheel making his knuckles white. Dad had been placed along the back seat his fist curled under his cheek as he snored on. I turned my eyes back to the road; the rain shimmered every time we passed a street light. When Jasper pulled up out the front of my house he grunted and stiffly got out of the car
I scrambled to the front door as he lifted my unconscious dad out of the car and brought him over. I found the spare key and opened the door to have Jasper push pass me and lay my dad on the couch. My hand steadied myself on the doorframe as my head swirled with sadness. Jasper probably hated me now. The tears were falling before I could stop them and I moved away from the door and made my way to the swing set out the back. My tears were washed away with the rain as I sat on the swing and let my feet drag in the mud. My body was wracking with sobs as I clutched the chains with cold hands. They both would hate me. I was a horrible person. I saw the light come on in the kitchen then the back door open.
"Eve?!" Jasper shouted coming out into the ain. I dropped my head and tried to still my shoulders. "Eve, what on earth are you doing out here? You’ll freeze." Jaspers warm hands grasped my forearms and he pulled me up into a standing position. I tried to hide my face from him but he grasped my chin and pulled my head up revealing my red eyes and my smudged makeup. "Come on, we’ll go inside and get you cleaned up." He wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me toward the house. Once inside the warmth I climbed up the stairs to my room and bathroom. I pulled of my dress and stood under the hot water of the shower letting my sobs take full control.
Once I had washed myself and slipped into some trackies and a loose shirt I came down the stairs. Jasper was pulling a blanket over my dad, his face lined with anger. Tears sprung my eyes ad before I could run back up the stairs Jasper spotted me. He came over to me with quick strides and I flinched away as he raised his arms. He looked so upset so I stood still. His hand gently touched my cheek and he pulled me into his chest.
"What’s wrong wildcat?" he whispered into my hair as he rubbed my back. I let out a shaky breath.
"You’re mad at me." I whispered softly into his shoulder. He pulled me tighter against him.
"Wildcat, I’m mad at the situation, I’m not mad at you." He kissed the top of my head and I meted into his arms.
"He’s my dad, and despite everything that’s happened I love him." I let out a sob. Jasper slid down the wall, pulling me into his lap as he rocked me back and forth. I clutched at his shirt and buried my face in his neck. His hand stroked my head and I was getting drowsy.
"Don’t worry my Eve, we’ll figure this out, we’ll get your dad some help ok?" I nodded softly and he kissed my forehead before he rested his head against the wall. I closed my eyes and basked in his warmth. His arms were warm and comfortable around me and I felt like I belonged. "I really like you Jasper." I whispered softly. His arms tightened around me and he kissed my ear before whispering.
"I really like you too, wildcat, I really like you too."

I woke to find myself curled in a ball and tucked in Jaspers, arms. Bleary eyed I untangled myself and stood with a wobble. Gently I bent down and kissed jaspers forehead before venturing to the kitchen to make some tea. Pulling the cups out of the cupboard I glanced over at my dad, who was still fast asleep on the couch. I boiled some water and poured myself a cup. While I lifted the cup to my lips I felt arms snake around my stomach and Jaspers lips press against my neck.
"Morning wildcat." He whispered and I spun to face him, kissing his nose quickly before taking another sip of my tea.
"Good morning." My dad’s voice was rough and filled with surprise. Jaspers arms tightened around me slightly as I looked over his shoulder to see my dad, standing sober and angry. I bit my lip and buried my head in Jaspers chest.
