Forgotten Soul - Chapter 2

Raynes getting better. A little better. A bit excited. Then she breaks down..
I stood there, in shock. I'd lost him to?... That's how I first thought about it. That's how I first went about it. I've lost everything I'd ever had. Mom's gone.. and now, so is dad. Dad is right. Everything was my fault. Tears slid down my cheeks and the FBI officer wiped it away and smiled nicely at me.
"You're safe now, little girl. No one will ever hurt you again, alright?" his voice was nice and warm. Full of love for me. Though he'd just met me. I didn't understand. I nodded at him and trailed my fingers over the words carved into my skin. Questions sprung to my mind like when a rabbit hops away from a fox.
Why'd he do something like this to me? Why'd he do it to his "princess"? It stung where I touched. I was so busy staring at the damage he'd done to me. That I didn't notice very well that I wasn't breathing. Not at all. The officer told me to breath and that everything was going to be alright, but I didn't listen to him. I was holding my breath and I didn't understand why.

Was he going to yell at me to? He's a man. He must be like Steven is. He must be waiting for me to make the wrong move. I stepped away from him and realization hit me hard. I was free.
"I'm free..." I choked out, pain throbbing threw all my words. Cold wind wipped my body and I shivered.
"Well, you are free. As I said before, little girl. No one will ever hurt you again." He smiled at my response. For a smile sprang to my lips. A worthy smile. I was free! I could go outside now! I was allowed to go now! I didn't have to stay here! I almost jumped up with joy. My old self was coming back. But I wasn't sure if I should let all myself go. Not yet. Not until they show me that I can trust them. My skin is pale, and my right eye a deep blue, my left a dark brown. My hair was black and straight. Nails never grown long because Steven would use them to make me cut myself. I have a scrony body. Bones showed every where. Steven never fed me enough. The officer poked my side and I flinched.

"Hey, it's time we should get you to the police station. Everyone is waiting for you." He took my hand gently and led me up the stairs. The stairs creaked and we reached the final stair. My body aching with each movement I made. I looked up at the man and asked him in my hoarse voice, "Can I go get dressed first?..."
He nodded and I walked to my room, my body ached like hell. Ouch! I tripped over a knife that lay in the middle of the floor and I looked around in a hurry and gasped. There was blood.. a lot of it. I gasped again and fell into the officers arms. I was scared. Again. I was deathly afraid again. The knife had punctured my foot...

"OH!" The officer exclaimed," Come on! Lets, get you out of here. Keep the blanket you have now." He wrapped the blanket around me tighter and I coughed. I turned around and clung to him. My body clinging to him for dear life. Though it hurt a lot, I just wanted to get out of here. I closed my eyes and he picked me up. Bringing me out of the house to see 4 police cars sitting in the drive way. My father was sitting in the back seat of the one in the middle and he was glaring, swearing death upon every guy in the way. I looked away when his gaze met mine. And I burst into tears. I heard one of the officers talking and looked over curiously. And the officer who held me, said gently.

"Sorry if I didn't mention my name.. it's Jeff. What would your name be? And how old are you?" He walked over to an ambulance and set me down on the cot that was pulled out. He sat next to me and I was distracted by how dark it was outside. I hadn't seen the daylight or darkness of the outdoors for 2 years... Being locked up really didn't help.

"Ahem.." He coughed.
"Oh.. what was your uh.. questions again?" I mumbled.
"What's your name?" He smiles. I couldn't help but notice how beautiful his smile was, I had to note that.
"Your smile is beautiful. And, my name is Rayne.." I looked down. A bit embarrassed for telling him his smile was beautiful.
"Thank you. That's a nice name. Would you like some hot chocolate?" He reached for a thermostat and opened it. The smell was delicious and I nodded quickly."Yes please!"
He smiled again and then poured me a bit into the cover. "How old are you, Rayne?"
"I'm..17. I think." I looked at him curiously. Are we going to-" I heard a screaming sound come from the police car that held my father and he was being tazzed. I closed my eyes tightly and tried to picture something else and tried to hear something. Anything, but the scream of Steven. It was quickly quieted when they told him to shut up or else they'll take him in right now. I looked over at Jeff and thought to myself, My turn to ask questions.
"Jeff," I smiled. "My turn to ask questions about you, Alright?!" I said excitedly.
He shook his head and grinned. No no, It's time for us to leave, Rayne. Come on now," He led me over to was I think was his police car. If it wasn't I wasn't going in with anyone but him. I couldn't. I couldn't! Absolutely not.
"You're going in this one. With me." He opened the passengers side door and I stepped in caution taking over me.
He slid into the other side of the car and off we went.

Forgetting what it looked like in our town I was amazed by how many people we out on the streets. I tried counting but lost count after 400. I ttried again but gave up. The sun was starting to come up and I was supper excited. Jeff had held my hand the whole time. Though, I didn't tell him I didn't need it anymore because I liked the touch of someone who I knew wasn't going to hurt me. It was very comforting after what I'd been threw. I closed my eyes and heard Jeff laugh a bit,
"why are you closing your eyes?" He asked
"Well, I want it to be a surprise so when it gets bright out, I can see it bright on my face. And I can soke it in." I smiled.
I heard the car stop and him mumble, "You stay there, while I go get the door for you. Don't open your eyes yet." I laughed and squeezed my eyes shut. Ahhahaha, I was in a hurry and I didn't know what for. I heard my dooropen and I reached out quickly for him.
"Woowowow, Waitt. Take it easy," Jeff laughed. I'm guessing he seen my blush. It wasn't my fault! I hadn't been outside for a long time! I felt gravel on my feet and bent my knees, making myself fall into Jeffs arms again.
"I'm sorry." I blushed.
"It's alright." He led me up these stairs and into what I was thinking going to be a police station. Like, those ones on TV, the old ones. But, I was wrong. It was a new station. It had fresh paint on it. And it stank to me. I opened my eyes and pinched my nose, twisting a look over at Jeff.
"Is this how they all smell?" I shuddered and seen him grin.
"No. It's new. Come on. This way. I'll take you out to breakfast after." He led me over to the front desk and smiled at the person in the front desk. "WE've found the "missing" girl for two years. Looks like she's been tortured a lot. IT was the poor girls father to."
I then glared at him, "He isn't my father. Not in my point of view. If he was my father, I would think he'd have treated me better." I sat down on one of those twirly chairs. Wow, a lot of things have changed since the last time I'd seen the world.
He frowned and looked.. confused. "Yes, sorry. Come, now I'll take you to see the chief" He grabbed my hand and led em down this hallway. The walls are all painted white. I tried to touch the wall but Jeff pushed my hand away.
"It's wet paint!" He'd say.
My heart thudded when we entered the room with Steven and the chief inside. The chief looked disgustedly at Steven.
"Here she is now." The chief said, then walked over to me and I froze, Horrified. I then hid behind Jeff.
"No! I'm not staying in here ! Nooo!" I screamed. Pain refilling my shattered heart. " Not with hiM!!! NO!" They pulled me to sit next to the chief and Jeff soothed me by grabbing a chair and sitting next to me and holding my hand. I clung to it helplessly. There was only a table, a little light hanging from the ceiling. And four chairs in the room. One for Steven, The chief, Jeff and me. My heart wouldn't calm down as I avoided eye contact with Steven. He must hate me now. My heart pounded so hard in my chest I started breathing heavily.
"See what you've done to her!? BASTARD, You've scared the crap out of this girl!" Jeff shrieked. I Covered my eyes with his hand and whimpered.
"I didn't mean to..." I heard Steven say. Not really say.. He more mumbled it.. in a very very hushed voice. Jeff held my hand tighter and I dared a glance at Steven. But, he wasn't looking at me. His blue iced glare was at the ground, and tears were pouring out of his eyes. He then looked up and our gazes were glued together. His red eyes and my also red bloodshot eyes, just glaring at each other. He then reached over and I freaked. I threw myself back and fell out of my chair and scrambled over to the corner of the room, shaking franticly. Jeff came and patted my back for support. I then threw my arms around him. Tears starting to pour out of my eyes like Steven. I was vibrating helplessly. My throat felt like there was something clogging it. My tears kept on pouring over. But Jeff still held me. Tighter and tighter. The chief and Steven were having a conversation. I couldn't hear them though, All I could here was my heart thudding loudly and my loud breathing. Then Jeff's soothing voice. I had buried my face into his shoulder and he had been rubbing my back. The next thing I knew I had fallen asleep. In the room, with Jeff. Steven and the Chief had left.
