Forgiving the Forgotten - 65 - Dawn Returns

CHAPTER 65: DAWN RETURNS:

TAEEN'S POV:
It had been three years since the war and sixteen years since Dawn had first set foot on Jerome.
Amenatsu had disappeared into the fabric of time to receive Dawn from Aria. Hopefully both would return in a matter of two days.
I stayed by the window, gazing at the budding flowers in the garden, they were black roses with golden sparkles. It looked handmade, but it was a product made by our genetics department as a tribute to Amon and me.

Tomorrow, by this time, I would be in Amenatsu's arms. The moon danced gently in the water. I feared their safety, but I was confident of both their strengths.
Mia had been checking on me a lot recently. Saying that I was looking more lovely by the day.
Amenatsu had returned to his cheerful self. Joking with the subordinates at office, helping in the rehabilitation of those who had gone against us.
He was a very good person. And I, for one, was a very lucky person.

As for Mia and Ru, well, they had a baby boy soon after the war. He was named Aiden. I loved playing with him. Hayame was still madly waiting for my son. Hayame... I liked her, she was a strong girl, reserved but determined. And Dawn liked her too. Huh! Big time.... they were probably in love.

Angel and Rimini were still with me.
Trace was Nanette's assistant now, he had taken Weiss's place. He was opening up, albeit slowly.
My peach colored gown hung by the side as I sat on the window sill waiting for the night to end so I could wait for the day to end and receive Dawn and Amenatsu.

I looked back on life....
The school warden from whose house I had run away....
Amenatsu had been my prince in shining armor and come to take me away from my miseries.
There had been this period when we had felt that our love could not be.
And then the Anti aliens on earth had attacked us.
Amenatsu had been injured very badly in that fight. And I had lost my memory.
To save me from death he had tied his soul to mine. The magnitude of what he had done for me was fathomless.

Mia and her children- Trace, Zuniyah and Hayame had all come with us. And Ru had unexpectedly fallen for Mia. How Mia changed, beautifully.
On Jerome, my age stopped at 22, we fell in love, inseparably. We wanted to become one. To never be separated from each other.

And under the eyes of all Jeromians we married.
Even if I lost my son in almost a year of my wedding, Amenatsu and I kept each other alive.
Then for thirteen years this war went on. And finally ended in an all out battle.
It was all fresh in my mind like yesterday.
There were moments I didn't feel like letting go.
Amenatsu's habit of combing my hair, his eagerness of wanting to watch earth movies with me. It seemed so normal. It was. It still is.

And just like that the night passed. I woke to find Mia's message blinking on my home line. She said it was urgent. I wondered what it could be.

By the time I returned, feeling all glowing and happier than ever before, it was time to arrange the dinner for Amenatsu and Dawn. I had asked Ru and the others to let the three of us have our first family dinner here. They had very understandingly obliged.

I had prepared many dishes myself. I hoped Dawn would like it. I had a surprise for Amenatsu. But that was something I would tell him later.

There was a huge commotion an hour later, Jerome's atmosphere had been breached, Amenatsu and Dawn were on the way.
Only Mia, Ru, Hayame and I had come to receive them. The public was not invited. There was a ball party later and they were all invited to that. Trace and Zuniyah were at the Emerald palace babysitting Aiden.
I stood in the landing base where they would come. Ru had to repeatedly stay back lest I hurt myself with the excessive winds. Hayame stood next to me. She sure was confident of herself.
I asked her as the craft approached closer, "Hayame... you can go first if you like...." I just wanted to see her reaction.

She smiled and said softly, "Had it not been for you I wouldn't have met him, you are his mother, and I wonder what I mean to him. It is best if you proceed first princess."
I nodded and squeezed her hand in appreciation.
She blushed and looked at the approaching craft.
With the whirring of blades the landing was perfect. Of course Amenatsu was piloting. When Dawn had first come here, he had crashed rather than landed.
I shuddered at the memory. The aircraft stopped. And the hatch opened.
I pushed the gate aside and ran towards the door of the craft. I felt like a teenager going to meet her boyfriend. I don't think I actually wanted to believe that I was a queen running towards a king. I didn't want any barriers between us.

Daw looked tired but very happy. His eyes twinkled with joy.
I hugged both of them together. My arms tried to enclose them both. I kissed Dawn on his cheek.
After a few minutes I said with a lopsided grin to Dawn, "I think someone is waiting for you...."
He flushed a beet red and nodded. The moment I was in Amenatsu's arms, we saw Dawn dropping his bags on the floor and lifting Hayame in the air. He twirled with her laughing in the air.
Ru drew Mia closer as they looked on.
Dawn let her on the ground but still holding hands and with his other hand slinging the bags on his shoulders with ease. Hayame smiled softly and met up with her parents. Ru patted Dawn on the back and Mia kissed his forehead.

Our family was finally complete.
