Forgiving the Forgotten - 63 - My Love

CHAPTER 63:

AMON'S POV:
I heard the missiles as did everyone else.
Weiss had air force attack ready. Taeen was not communicating with me. Ru was frantically making contact with Trace but in vain. Trace was firing back.
His desperate voice filled my transmitter, "Sir! Ask them to cease fire! We are not attacking! We are not in enemy range!"

I roared at Weiss, "You sick bastard! Call of your air force! They are not in enemy range. Call them off or I'll send my men against yours!"

He laughed. I wanted to leap at the man and throttle him. My wife was in that plane! Trace wouldn't survive if they ran out of missiles.
I saw horrified when their plane came crashing down. only one parachute sailed down. it crashed at a side, burning like the sun. Taeen!
No... wait... if she would have been killed, or even lost consciousness, I would have known. Her soul was connected to mine. I faked sorrow and immediately understood her plan.
She had faked her death.

Taeen was still there, hidden among the clouds trying to immobilize Weiss. And she had Trace by parachute to confirm her death. And I was the only one capable of knowing that she was alive.
I marveled at her intelligence internally while faking immense sorrow.
"How dare you! How Dare you!"
Weiss's laughter reached a maniacal point.

I created a barrier around myself and for the first time allowed the black dragon full control. I wouldn't let anyone else get hurt. The shock of Taeen's apparent death kept the others too busy to notice that I was already leaping over the debris over the barren land and rushing towards the enemy.
The black dragon in me would take control anytime.
I commanded mentally, it was heard by everybody, even Weiss and his men, "No one will attack. I will not let even a single life be taken. No one moves until I order."
I knew I wouldn't order anyone to move. Though the battle seemed too big, it was easy. My decision was correct and I knew it.

What happened next was too fast for me to be able to think of.
Weiss pushed the lever that would activate the absorb the soul energies of Jeromians. It would start by taking his own men's lives.
I created a barrier that made me immune to physical waves. The next barrier that I created encompassed me, Weiss and the machine in which he was sitting.
Though the lever was pushed, Weiss was slowly realizing that invisible threads stopped his movements. He struggled like crazy but could not come free.
Taeen was holding him in place.

I was almost face to face with Weiss. In front of Ruin. The absorption would start anytime soon and I would rapidly lose all energy. But my people would be safe. When it had taken all my energy, the ruin would consume Weiss as well and since he no longer had anyone to support him the war would end. How simple.
The wind force within the barrier was too strong. I could feel it. I held my ground.
"Weiss!" I yelled against the howling wind.
His desperate eyes searched for an escape. There was none.
"Stop the ruin! It will kill you after it is done with me! stop it Weiss!"
"I... I can't stop it, it cannot be reserved. Remove the barrier! We both will die!"
A sudden calm came over me as I yielded to the strong fore that sucked at my powers. I said to him, "Weiss, this barrier will protect my people. After you the machine will break itself, for it has no energy source left. This machine is imperfect. I know its mechanics. You cannot use it."

I heard him shouting but there was no way I would listen to him, "Break the barrier! Break it... please your highness! Break it!"
His eyes filled with tears. He said ina broken voice, "Why! How did you know?" why?"
I replied, "My son... whom you sold to Wuldock, has powers on par with mine. He crossed time to tell us about your plans.... never underestimate someone born from two lines of royalty...." my great son Dawn.....
I stood floating in the air, even taking a breath seemed difficult, "Prince Washita really trusted you.... make it up to him."

His eyes raged and Weiss lost control over himself. My already failing strength was not enough for me to draw out a weapon to protect me from his mere metal sword. Taeen would have been angry if she saw me this way, unable to defend myself. I tried to summon my sword but before it appeared, the sword slashed at me. I could see my blood flying in front of my eyes. The pain seared me, reaching till the ends of all my nerves. It began dulling.
The last thing I saw, at the end of my life was Taeen. She had huge golden wings and a weapon I had never known or seen in her hands.
Darkness engulfed me as I saw the weapon impaling Weiss.
Taeen... my... love.
