Forgiving the Forgotten - 60 - Potential Danger

CHAPTER 60: POTENTIAL DANGER:

TAEEN'S POV:

Amenatsu had a mild headache by the time we returned. I forced him to accompany to the lab for the day.
"Taeen... I have to check the results for the intelligence reports...."
"Amon! Please... don't behave like a military driven king!"
"I'm not military driven!" his slim fingers ran through his head and stayed there. Uh oh... I had upset someone....
"I mean, please calm down, you're way tense to even analyze a report... what you can do is take a stroll through the results of the latest hybrids that you programmed.... Amenatsu?"
"Alright, let's go... but the report is not going to be analyzed on its own."
I propelled him outside the door and said, "We'll go over it in the evening... together, alright?"

He nodded and walked off towards our waiting car. Shane held the door open for me, but my legs refused to move. It was a déjà vu.
Dawn was standing at the door and seeing us off when we left for the labs. My son. My baby. I wondered if I could ever think of him as a child. He seemed like a person I wanted to keep close by. Like I could give my life for him. He was my child. Dawn, sweetheart, your parents miss you a lot, you know.... a lot. It would have been better if you were here with us. Maybe I could've handled things better.
"Your highness?" Shane's voice broke through my memories.
"Huh?"

Amon called out, "Taeen? I thought you wanted to check on the lab results!"
I hurried towards the car and allowed Amon to access my memories. He squeezed my hand and said, "Patience my dear.... I'll bring him back."
I nodded. He knew it was a very sentimental side of me. Dawn's childhood, which I was missing, thanks to the ultimate villain Weiss, made me feel desperate to see him. All the pain he still had to go through.
"Amon.... are you planning to leave me?"
"I can't, not that I would ever want to.... my soul is bound to yours. So I can't leave you."
"If you die, will the bond break?"
I knew I was being blunt but I wanted the answer.
"If... I die... the same bond will protect you from death, it'll convert into a charm that will be your shadow and protect you from danger."
I nodded and we remained silent through the rest of the way.

The results of the hybrids were better with the initial chemicals, the new chemicals caused better blooming but the nutritive value was reduced. So the overall purpose was defeated.
"Firenze... let's just continue on the path D-23 and use the previous chemicals for the hybrids. Amon also agrees to this."
One of my most trusted colleagues, Firenze, was in charge of the research lab when we were gone, and he had proceeded as planned. It was a relief to have trustworthy people around you.

Just when we were heading for the inner offices, Ru called Amon, "Amon! The reports about the weapon Weiss is developing were flawed. It was a plot to throw us off track..."
"Let's not talk of such matters here. Shall we meet for dinner tonight? Come with your family. So it will not be suspicious for a mole. I suspect someone from the royal guard.... someone with an ally among the lilac palace staff."
Amenatsu turned to me and said in my mind, "Taeen... tonight Ru and his family are coming for dinner, we're going to play to the tunes of our enemies for a while... believing all they want us to think, but only for appearance. I've a plan."
I stared at him and said back, "Alright, let's move casually, the mole can be anyone, anywhere."

We strolled through the glass house of the tender new plants. I thought of the neonatal unit in Mia's care. She was an asset to the people of Jerome. She was an authority on infertility treatment. The babies born in artificial vessels were normal except that they were born outside their mother's body. She was a genius. I was half envious of her. But then I did my wonders in plants. It was satisfactory enough. Oh and I also had general sciences to manage.

After dinner Hayame took Zuniyah to Dawn's room that was where she went whenever she came to our place. She had exclusive permission to use that room any way she liked. I decorated that room sometimes. Hayame helped me often. She dropped letters in a locked box for Dawn at a regularity that was irregular for a normal human. Well she wasn't normal. She was a person in love. Waiting for Dawn to return, feverously and unfazed.

Trace and the four of us sat in the main hall of our rooms and discussed the further course.
Mia was there just for the sake of knowing the real deal. Trace for his ideas and being the leader of the spies he had collected, some criminals and others youngsters from odd circumstances, they respected him, but feared him equally. The remaining three of us because we were actively involved with the military. Trace would pass on the details to Nanette. No one else would know of this.

Ru began in slow tones, "The spies we gathered from the mortal Jerome or anti Jerome front are double timing with us. They tell us what Weiss wants us to believe...."
Amenatsu threw back his plaited hair and said firmly, "To make the spy useful, we must show him what we want Weiss to believe.... diamond cuts diamond. We'll use their own technique on them...."
I said after he stopped, "Basically what they want us to believe is that the weapon they're making is a simple missile with glorified after effects.... but the truth? How will we know the truth?"

Ru warmed his hands on the cup of Sies and said dramatically, "We already have it. Two of the members from Trace's team infiltrated the layers of mortal Jerome and came out without revealing their identity. We're giving them protection for now, but the spies from mortal Jerome are unidentified, so we need to be very careful.... Trace, the report please."
Trace nodded, his dark hair neatly combed backwards with a few fringes hanging by the sides.... Dawn must also be like him.
Back to the point, the report from Trace's team.

"Day 1: Location of enemy determined.
Day 2: Preparations for breach of lower layers of Vestavia.
Day 3: entry gained through Vestavia.
Day 4 to 7: entry into mortal Jerome apparently for the sake of finances by Uranium and Radium... these are the codes of my agents.
Day 8: First orientation program for beginners. Lesser weapons and ammunition's shown. Demonstration of emergency drill. It was more like mice retreating to their holes.
Day 9 to 28: after proving their faithfulness in all ways, accepted for second orientation program.
Day 29: The main weapon and development station of weapon shown. Details added later.
Day 30: Uranium and Radium are killed in the markets of Dior in a fake chemical accident. Unconscious bodies of the two agents is replaced with dead bodies of criminals and sent for identification to Vestavia. Identification of burnt bodies done by left index finger ring and two artificial tooth for Uranium and presence of scars of abdominal surgery and artificial patella in right knee.
These were added to the criminals profile after their death, with their permission.
Day 31: The birds are back to their nest. Reports handed over to me.
Well yeah... that's about it.... kindly listen to the next piece of data which is more important than the previous one.

The weapon, Ruiner, is a device that requires Yuver power to blast energy waves. It has the capacity to blow three planets arranged linearly in one blast. The device is controlled by both external and internal systems. It requires approximately 89 billion giga -Yuver -supertrons."
There was a shocked gasp from all of us. Mia looked mildly clueless to which Ru explained, "It refers to insane amounts of powers... like the power of all the Yuvers combined on Jerome...."
Trace cut in and said, "Precisely! That's just what Weiss is planning; to use the energy of those on Jerome and bargain for domination over other planets by threatening to destroy the planets."
"Weiss plans to take the lives of all Jeromians...."
"Let's see if he can cross me to lay a hand on my people..." Amon thundered.
The war was about to begin.
