Forgiving the Forgotten - 50 - Dilemma
CHAPTER 50: Dilemma:
AMENATSU'S POV:
I remembered blacking out after yelling at her, before I could apologize to her.
The only things I could remember were her gentle hands around my shoulder as she helped me around.
Finally, when I had stabilized enough to walk around I woke up.
Oops, I was up once again in the middle of the night, it was almost morning though. The last moon was shining through the balcony.
My head still hurt and the room still swiveled slightly when I walked towards the balcony.
"Amenatsu..." I heard Taeen mumble in her sleep. She was asleep on the floor. I slumped down next to her and sat in the light of the moon.
I lay her head in my lap as she shifted closer in her sleep. She must have been very tired.
"My heart, did I trouble you too much? Forgive me darling...." I couldn't help but leave a trail of kisses all along her arm till it reached her shoulder and neck and finally landed on her lips.
She stirred and woke up, kissing me back.
The relief in her eyes was startling. Her arm covered her eyes as she clung to the silken fabric of my coverlet.
"I... I thought I was going to lose you...." a tear trickled down the side of her face and made a blot on my trouser. Her voice quivered with the soft crying. I subbed her shoulder gently.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you... I was confused and scared... of losing the powers that bind me to you."
"Silly... but very humble.... You accept the emotion of fear in spite of being a king."
"I do. I'm scared of many things- for instance, losing you. I do try to make my fears go away. I got over my biggest fear of losing you to death, by tying my soul with yours...."
"Why did you marry me in spite of being assigned just to find me?"
"The way I feel about you is very different from what you feel.... you're a flower I want to hide from the world. The clearest pool of life God could have ever created. I'm a mere pebble in that pond. But if that is the case, my love stretches beyond the reaches of the universe.... I want to tell you the deepest memories in my heart. And yet... it seems painful even if I try. If I had the option, I would give you all that you desire. I would tear out my heart and live loveless for all eternity if I could be assured that you could have my heart forever..."
I pulled away her arms and said slowly, "Come now... let me see my dawn...."
She started crying afresh. "I didn't realize, I would never see Dawn again for so many years.... I lost my baby... but I found him again.... why am I so confused? Amenatsu? Are you there? Why can't I see you?"
Taeen rambled on but her eyes had closed. Her words were slurred and I knew she was tired. I relaxed against the bed and fell asleep with her in my arms. The one person I had to protect.
"Your highness, the travel preparations have been readied according to the Queen's wish. The second in charge documents are requested...."
I stood dumbfound in the office chamber of Lilac palace as Shane read out the travel arrangements for the month long stay in the Islands. Specifically, Tatsu planet.
Why would Taeen do something like this? Why didn't she consult with me... she knows I don't like it.... I was losing balance, the effect of Mia's miracle drugs was wearing off.
"Shane, you're dismissed... thank you, please ask the queen to come and meet me in the living quarters."
Shane nodded bowed and left. I flopped on the couch and tried making sense of what was going wrong with me. I had to get to our bedroom.
Using the last of my powers and teleported to my destination. That was the end of me. Ah! Taeen, why did you....
"Amenatsu! Stop playing around with me! Get the hell back to me. And stop playing this game with me. Wake up or I'll cut my hair short!"
My eyes opened to see my angel sitting by my side. The bangles in her hand jingled softly. Why was she looking so different today?
My eyes opened wider in surprise.
She reminded me of a photo of my mother I had seen at a festival.
Her hair was loosely braided and studded with blue and green gems. Her dress was a flowing gown in a night blue satin with a glittering green frill unfurling its way till her bosom. A thin necklace adorned her neck. Tear shaped earrings dangled from her ears.
"Why Taeen?"
She smiled sadly but said nothing.
"Why didn't you ask me before planning this? I can't allow that! They all think I'm dead!"
"Well let's show them how alive you are!"
"Taeen! You very well understand my situation! I don't want to go there... please..." he sat on the bed and put his arms around me.
"If you want to rule Jerome, you've to go to your glacier and regain your life source.... come on... don't be a stubborn ass!"
"You... you called me a stubborn ass?"
"Yeah I did, you'll be proving it right if you don't get out of the bed right now."
"Well, you get in here, and I'll show you how stubborn an ass I have."
"I have witnessed it before. I can read your thoughts... you have to go to the bathroom."
"Would my perverted wife like to join me?"
She flung the covers aside and pushed me off the edge of the bed.
She waited for me to get out of the bath with a satisfied smug grin.
The breakfast was ready by the time we reached.
"Amenatsu... we'll leave today evening. Mia said the medicines have side effects. If there is anything I can do to return the favors you've done for me, I can get you back your powers and possibly your family."
I looked at her trying to say something but my vision was getting blurry.
"Amenatsu...? Oh God!"
She exclaimed as I fell to my side and on the ground. Lying on the ground made me feel better. Taeen was on the floor with me.
"We. Are. Leaving. NOW."
The anger in her voice amused me. I signed the papers that would put Ru in charge of Jerome temporarily for a period of one month.
I hardly knew what was going on around me. Just that Taeen was not leaving my side.
"I'm feeling like a real wife now, you know, packing your stuff and all." She chuckled to herself.
"You never let me pack your stuff ever...."
"I was trained that way...." my thoughts drifted to the years of training. My departure. The way I was sent away. My resent increased. It was disturbing. It hurt. Mother's image flashed in front of my eyes. Repeatedly.
"Taeen... I don't want to go there. They'll send... me... away again...."
Her loving arms came up over my back.
"Why do you worry? You're going as the emperor of Jerome, no one will stop you. You are going as Amenatsu Jerome, or rather king Jerome. So why do you worry. Only your parents need to know your true identity."
I nodded and crushed her to myself.
"Amenatsu... do you know you got over ten thousand letters of well wishes from your people. That in itself is such a big achievement. To gain the trust of a planet is hard work. I know it, cause I've seen you work that hard. I know you Amon. My sweetest, my love. My everything."
I kissed her head and whispered the truest emotions of my heart, "You are my world darling. If you are so I am...."
She replied, her head burrowed in my chest, "that's incomplete, you should add- if I am so you are...."
If you are so I am... if I am so you are.
Next morning I supervised as Nanette requested permission to visit Tatsu for a period of four weeks.
The receptionist in the foreign tourism department answered, "Tatsu Island foreign tourism greets you. How may I help you?"
"Thank you. I would like to allow the permit for the king Amon and queen Taeen to visit Tatsu planet for a period of Jerome, with two of their pilots; Shane and Gird...."
The person at the other end promptly replied, "Of course it will be an honor! The arrangements will be made in the royal campus, the details will be sent over by the file decoder to your base."
"Very well, thank you. The payment will be made in advance by the Jerome royal family house. Shall we send over the space craft registration details?"
"Yes, that will be appreciated. May I know the approximate date and time of arrival?"
"Three days from now, in the morning of Tatsu's sunrise."
"Thank you, the royal family will be awaited. Have a great day."
The conversation was one I had heard many times in one of my postings during training at the west dock office. I wondered if things would still be the same there. Many years had passed. And no one knew I was coming there.
The nostalgia in me was worsening and I left Nanette's soon after to check on my over enthusiastic wife, who I knew would be terribly disappointed.
