Forgiving the Forgotten - 46 - An Illusion Named Death

CHAPTER 46: AN ILLUSION NAMED DEATH

The story of the prince of Jerome.

TAEEN'S POV:

Father?
Amon was Dawn's father?
Amenatsu? Our first born? Or....
I held the stone in its box and walked slowly towards the hospital. There were Jeromians on the way to place flowers for Amon and Dawn in the shrine.
What would have Dawn gone through... knowing that his father was waiting for him on another planet....
Aria? The mining planet. That was a bit too far, farther than Earth. Wasn't it owned by another planet called Rows? Yes... J (my tutor when I had first come to Jerome) had mentioned it.

Amenatsu had once told me that Dawn said he had wanted to come to Jerome to protect his parents.
Had he accomplished his goals?
I... I had to get Amenatsu to answer my questions.
I had to ask Ru to get the security of his family as well as ours uptight and running.
Questions...
I fell asleep in a corner of the room where Amenatsu slept. He was going to be alright. I knew it.
For his kingdom.
**
Both Amon and Dawn were discharged from the hospital in a few days. I had been hiding that the death of our first child was probably an illusion. The sadness we had felt. The grief.
I occluded my mind from Amon as he emerged out of the bath and went towards the bed.
I brushed my hair and turned to look at Amenatsu sitting on the edge of the bed. I scanned his mind. He was so worried for us and the kingdom.
"Amenatsu... stop worrying, Dawn will be up and about. He too is joining the conference this morning...."

Trace's voice came through the intercom of our room in Emerald palace. As of now, we were living like a joint family in Ru's palace.
"Your highness, please may I request you to allow me to join the conference?"
"I think I can allow that."
"Your highness, your vehicle is waiting outside, Mother had left with Ru for the headquarters."
"Alright Trace, we'll see you there. Thank you."

Amenatsu turned to me and said gently, "You're hiding something from me... aren't you Taeen?"
"No... I plan to let you see what I'm hiding on the way to the headquarters...."

In the vehicle I held Amon's hand as he digested the fact that Dawn really was our son.
"Taeen... our baby! He's alive!"
"Yeah, it is rather confusing. He looks so much like you that I was confused whose son it was, mine or..."
Amenatsu put an arm behind my back and whispered, "For your kind information, you're the only one who 'can' be his mum...."

I giggled and thought of myself as the mother of a fifteen year old boy... I realized why I had felt the pangs of worry when Dawn was unwell, why Amon had intuitively passed on his life source even if it meant it would weaken him further.
Dawn was our son. Our first born.
"Taeen... I was planning to start the rebuilding of Lilac palace and the general sciences laboratories as soon as possible. What do you think?"
I nodded and touched the smooth surface of the stone once again. Dawn... you saved your parents. Who named you Dawn? How was your childhood? Will I know it? Will I see you as a baby? Will you return to me? Someday... in the future?

Sies cups were decorated across the table for the members of the Crisis Committee. It included Amenatsu, Ru, Nanette, Dawn, Trace, Mia and me.
"Are you having a headache?" I asked Mia who had been constantly rubbing her forehead with a distressed look.
"No... I was just wondering... Zuniyah is not well, I left her in Hayame's care... she has been having cold from quite some time. I think she might be allergic to the ground plants in the palace...."
I nodded and patted her back gently. There was a stark difference in us and Nanette. She was a commander. Her dress, dark blue trousers with a knee length coat and a white belt made her look intimidating, in spite of her small frame. Her hair was tied back stiffly in a bun.

I was wearing the royal dress for a queen- a cobalt blue simple gown with white outlines. I had clipped my hair at the back. Mia wore casuals, a pair of jeans and a pink shirt with a white coat. She had rushed straight from her lab.
Trace sat in a corner, talking softly to Nanette. Ru and Amon anxiously awaited Dawn's arrival.
"Mia... thank you for your hospitality in letting us stay at your palace. Lilac palace will be ready in a few days...."
"You know I don't need the thank you...." she smiled and we continued.
Dawn entered the conference room with a limp in his still bandaged leg. Amon stood up to receive him.

"Good morning your highness.... I believe you still haven't opened the gift I gave you a year back."
"I have... Dawn, you still have to clear it all for the rest of us. I'm sure you're waiting to return to your place at Aria. Please bear with us a little while longer."
"Of course your highness...."
Amenatsu said into my mind, 'It's awkward to hear your own son calling you 'your highness' isn't it Taeen?'
I replied swiftly, 'Well, it's equally awkward to think that I'm the mother of such a big boy. If you feel like it, just ask him to call you Amon or Amenatsu or dad or....'
'I think Amon is better.'

So I heard Amenatsu say to Dawn as both of them settled in their seats, "I think you should call me Amon... or father or whatever... your highness isn't really appropriate."
Dawn smiled brightly and said with excited eyes, "So you saw the box! You gave it to me! I can now prove that I am truly your son... and so that you would know what to do fifteen years later from now."
I gulped down my curious questions about his life away from us.

Amenatsu cleared his throat and all eyes were upon him, "There are times when a man needs to do the unthinkable. Prince Washita did that. Which resulted in me becoming the king. As you all know, there is a group of people in Jerome who are part of the association called Mortal Jerome or Anti Jerome front. Their leader, I'm sorry to say, is Weiss, the assistant to our army's commander, Nanette. Of course, he had fled, since his butt has been exposed now. The actual details we have from our security- chief commander Dawn, who is here by tearing a minor gash in the fabric of time. Dawn here, belongs to a time period fifteen years from now. But considering he has the powers of both the third Jeromian princess Ta and myself, he could accomplish time alterations.... please accept Dawn as the first born child we had apparently lost... the heir to Jerome- Dawn, go on."
The awe in everybody's expression was too much for poor Dawn who stood up after his father- Amon, sat down.

"Please! I'm your regular Dawn... but since everybody here knows of my true identity, I can let go of my control jewel."
His smile was so much like Amon's. His rugged messy hair gave him a youthfulness he would have lacked if it had been longer.
Dawn pulled out a heavy medallion out of his shirt and the moment it was out of his touch there was a pulse of energy, a powerful wave, as if a dragon was finally waking up.
