Forever is Gone

You said I looked different as if you no longer cared,
You spoke as if it’s over with no chance for repair,
You said it seems like we’re growing farther apart,
Without being able to stop our breaking hearts,
I know now that it’s over I just need to tell you the truth.

At first it was fun but then it went bad,
I tried trusting you again but I could not forget,
You lied to me once and I think you’ll do it again,
The love that was lost may not ever be found,
This is not real, I hate that I have to pretend.

We need to both move on to forget our past,
It will be hard but I know it would never last,
Forgetting you now is better before it’s too late,
It kills me to think of this being our last date,
We talked of forever, but forever is gone.

I hope you’ll always remember the love that we had,

Maybe our love was never strong enough,
