Forever Been a Secret
A son coming out (wrote for my poetry class)
You know I love you mom and dad.
I will always be your son.
I will always be there.
I know you love Christy too.
We’re all excited for the June wedding.
I have been honest for the most part.
I do love Christy very much.
Do you remember John?
We were best friends for years.
We played little league together ;
Caught fireflies in jugs.
I have one thing to get off my chest;
I’m gay and always have been.
Please don’t hate me.
Don’t shut me out.
I still love you and always will.
I can tell by your faces you’re not pleased.
Don’t worry Christy knows that we were not meant to be.
And John is who I’ve always loved.
I will always be your son.
I will always be there.
I know you love Christy too.
We’re all excited for the June wedding.
I have been honest for the most part.
I do love Christy very much.
Do you remember John?
We were best friends for years.
We played little league together ;
Caught fireflies in jugs.
I have one thing to get off my chest;
I’m gay and always have been.
Please don’t hate me.
Don’t shut me out.
I still love you and always will.
I can tell by your faces you’re not pleased.
Don’t worry Christy knows that we were not meant to be.
And John is who I’ve always loved.
