My mom was convinced that my dad had "changed" but I still don't believe it.
Matty is still getting used to the idea of having a dad, but so he talks to me every night before going to bed, and tell me how things are going.
I was walking up the picnic hill in the dark, trying to find my way around.
"Seriously, why do you always want to hang out so late at night, when everything is all dark, and in quiet and did I mention, dark, places? I'm starting to think you don't want to be seen with me." I grabbed his hand a pulled myself up over a big rock at the park.
"I do want to be seen with you I just can't be seen with you." He smiled kindly at me.
We've been meeting up and hanging out as friends, on a regular base, but there is some tension between us.
"So what's new? Have you talked to your mom yet?" he asked.
"Ya. I actually had coffee with her recently."
"Oh really? So are you to made up yet?"
"No. Not really." We walked over to a picnic table.
"So this fight must have been pretty bad." I shrugged. "Why won't you tell me what's even going on?"
He knows that my mom and me had a fight, but he didn't know it was bout my dad.
"Because I don't feel like it. So how is your life." I quickly shifted the topic off
me.
"Complicated."
I couldn't help but say, "I wonder why."
He eyed me in a sort of shut up way.
Then the rest of the night went by pretty quickly.
Nothing much really happened.
Except maybe the part when he kissed me.
It was when we were about to leave. We walked over to his car, and then when we were about to say our goodbyes he looked at me then he slowly leaned in a kissed me.
He pulled back and slowly mumbled something like "sorry."
But the truth was I wanted him to kiss me again.
Before he got into his car, I stopped him.
"Nate. This friend thing is kinda hard." And I think he knew were I was going; he smiled and tilted my chin up.
"You want to take things slowly?"
I smiled "ok."
He nodded and kissed me again.
Things started out well. I met with him the next night at the park again.
"Hello, my beautiful Melissa."
"Hi."
I loved the way he said my name.
Then he kissed my head, then my cheek, then worked his way down to my lips. I felt my whole body shiver with excitement, my mouth opened, allowing his soft lips to close gently over mine. I could barely describe it, when his lips closed over mine. I felt the spark.
"STAY AWAY FROM HIM!" Blondie was looming over us, looked furious.
"Nate is MY fiance." She showed me a pretty big expensive ring.
"Your fiance?" I asked a bit confused, what did I have to do with her fiance?
"Nate, explain NOW"
