Forbidden Love - Part 1
What happens when the boy you fell in love with moves away from you? What happens when they join a gang?
My alarm was set at 5:00AM for rowing in the morning. Rowing…gosh I remember when Nate and I used to dream about being on the rowing team at school in grade 8. At Ridgedall High, being on the rowing team was almost like being in an elite club. That was five years ago when Nate still lived in New York. He was the most benevolent teenage boy I’d ever known; the one that was always so kind and caring to me. I remember talking to him all the time about dogs. He really loved them, especially bull dogs. He moved to Toronto.
I pecked out the window and saw the gang again. His blue eyes connected with mine. He looked around 17 years old. According to my radio clock it was 8:45. This time they were after a business man around 30 years old. I flinched watching him get shot, falling down. I look back and to my surprise the 17 year old was clutching his arm. Everyone else ran.
"Come on!!!" I whispered hastily.
He shuffled quickly inside. Luckily, my parents weren't home. I wonder what their reaction would be if they knew I had brought a gang member in our house. Hopefully I wouldn't die...
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Nate." He responded. NATE…… it couldn’t be Nate. He didn’t look the same.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" his facial expression was disconcerting.
"Never mind, just get inside" I rushed him.
He took off his black leather jacket. I watched in awe as his muscles flexed. I went to get the first aid kit in the bathroom to heal his arm. He looked perplexed.
"Do you normally invite gang members in your house? Especially after you watched them kill someone?" he asked.
"No, this is a special situation. You got hurt." I tried to sound as normal as possible.
"I guess you better stay here until the commotion is over…" I murmured.
His smile was a yes. It was beautiful. When I finished bandaging up his arm we went to the guest room upstairs. He sat down on the plush chair and I sat on the comfy bed. I was exhausted, but there definitely no way I would sleep with a gang member in my house. I wondered what gang he was in…hopefully it wasn’t a notorious gang.
"Ummm…so what were you and your friends doing?" hopefully he would allude to the gang he was in.
"Don’t pretend you didn’t see anything. We were getting back at him for what he did to us. I can’t go into details." He was blunt.
"How old are you?" he asked.
"17..." I muttered tiredly.
He couched down beside the bed. I was shocked when he moved so close.
"I'm not going to hurt you."
I didn't say anything, but he climbed on top of me and slowly leaned closer. For some reason, I didn't tell him to move away. His lips connected with mine for a long, passionate kiss. My arms went around his neck and my hands ran though his hair. His arms were placed around my waist as he leaned even closer. Something started to poke at my hip. I looked down to see him reach into his pocket and pull out a gun...
"Ignore that" he said.
I tried to kiss him back like nothing had happened, but I couldn't, "Stop it."
"Don't you remember me? I moved back from Toronto; we wanted to be on the rowing team? Ridgedall High?" He was listing things.
"I do remember you Nate... What happened to you is my question." I said.
