Footprints in the Snow

A poem to remember not to take for granted the beautiful scenery on a cold winter's day.
Footprints in the snow,
What can you see,
Is it yours? Is it mine?
Look down and bend your knees.

Trace the lines, the shapes, and size,
Repeat with each step,
It gives a surprise, it tells the whys.

Children play on the shimmering hill,
Hear their sounds, see their joy,
The young, the old, the small and the tall.

Look over there at the new fallen snow,
See a dog, a bird, a squirrel or a doe,
Watch closely; which way will they go.

Day has turned into night,
The stars shine brightly, the moon all aglow,
Stand still and smell the air,
What can you say, what will you know.

Footprints in the snow,
What can you see,
Is it yours? Is it mine?
Look up and pray with me.
