Foot Detox Bath

Foot detox bath is a therapy used to get rid of toxins in the body.
Foot Detox Bath
As I was growing up I noticed my mother soaking her feet in warm water mixed with salt every other day. One day out of curiosity, I asked her the reason, she told me that she soaked her feet because it helped release the tension and the odor. I have been following the same practice for a long time now, sometimes I soak my feet at home and at other times I go to the nearest salon. Despite the explanation my mother provided me with that day, I have always wanted to know if there were other benefits associated with soaking ones feet in warm water. The quest began, which introduced me to the word detox and the importance of detox. I now understand that what began as simply soaking ones feet in warm water to relax the body, has now turned into a method used to detoxify the body, of course I understand that the treatment used today does not consist of only a bowl of warm water and salt anymore! Here are my findings, which I would like to share with you..

Why detox?

Hectic and unbalanced lifestyles create more problems in the body than we realize.

The cells in the body get unbalanced by:
  • Poor diet
  • Disease
  • Stress
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol
  • Lack of vegetable and fresh fruit
  • Lack of exercise
  • Anesthetics and drugs
Foot Detox Bath - What is it?

A foot detox bath helps the body cleanse by drawing out toxins and heavy metals from the many pores located at the soles of your feet. In this therapy, the feet are placed in a foot tub filled with warm spring water and sea salt. A coil is placed in the tub too. The coil iodizes the salt water, because of which the toxins and impurities are released in sweat from the soles of our feet. Once the machine is set to the correct settings, you can sit back and relax for 30 minutes, i.e. till the machine completes its cycle. It is suggested that adults use the machine every other day for 14 sessions, after which it is advisable to take a break for a week. The toxins that are eliminated can be seen, as the water may change color and consistency. A foot detox bath is effective as there are more sweat glands in our feet compared to anywhere else on our body.

Once the session is complete you can continue with your normal activities. It is advisable to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day. You can also take a mineral supplement, as the detoxification will pull out some of the minerals that are naturally bound with the heavy metals and toxins that are eliminated during the bath.

Foot Detox Bath - Importance

The human body needs to be constantly cleansed from toxins that result from the intake of food, water and air. These excessive toxins in the body have adverse effects. Some of the effects include:
  • Congested, blemished and bad skin
  • Sinusitis, cold and flu problems
  • Tiredness
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Body odor and bad breath
When any of these problems occur, it is a sign that something is wrong and needs correction. The body does eliminate or neutralize toxins via the kidneys, liver, perspiration and exhalation but for most people toxins accumulate faster than the body can eliminate them. This is when treatments like the foot detox bath prove beneficial, as foot detox bath will allow for a greater level of waste products to be excreted which in turn helps the body to regulate nutrients and oxygen to the tissues.
