List of Food Containing Gluten

While normally we do not check the food products for presence of gluten, people allergic to gluten and with celiac disease cannot afford to be complacent or negligent in this area.
Some folks suffer from a disease named celiac disease, which prevents the body from digesting a protein called gluten. Such people need to strictly maintain a gluten free diet, because on ingestion of gluten containing food, their immune system responds by destroying the miniscule, finger-like protrusions lining the small intestine. The function of these villi is permit absorption of food through the walls of the small intestine into the body's bloodstream. Damage villi cannot allow absorption of nutrients, no matter how much food is eaten. This ultimately leads to malnourished condition. Celiac disease is a genetic disease, however, sometimes it is seen to be triggered after pregnancy, childbirth, emotional stress, surgery, etc. Moreover, people with gluten allergy also cannot tolerate gluten.
