Find out if your snack habits match your personality traits. Rather your food cravings are the too salty or too sweet, what you select could tell you something about your personality traits.
We all have those certain foods we just seem to crave. Those favorite snacks like potato chips or pretzels, cheese puffs or cheese dip, pepperoni slices or summer sausage and of course anything chocolate. Your favorite may be the too salty, or too fatty or even the too chocolaty. Whatever your food craving is could say something about your personality.

Food Choices and Personality Traits

Salt Lovers– If you crave potato chips for their salty flavor you may be a high achiever and a perfectionist. Potato chip lovers tend to be successful in business and their family life. But if you want to make your salt snack a bit healthier, opt for baked chips instead. Or make your own with thinly sliced potatoes, lightly salted and then baked.

Maybe it is tortilla chips you love for the saltiness. This indicates you are a humanitarian who is overly stressed by injustices in our society. If crackers are your calling for salt, you could be a contemplative and thoughtful person who bases your decisions on logic rather than emotions. And for you pretzel lovers, you live in an abstract world and lose interest in the day to day mundane routine.

Meat Lovers – If beef jerky is your thing or other meaty snacks you tend to be the life of the party. You are outgoing and very social. You are a true friend and loyal to those friends. Try switching to turkey versions of your favorite meat snack to reduce your fat intake and make it a healthier choice.

Cheese Lovers – Who doesn't love cheese now and then? If your food craving is cheese you are a conscientious person and very proper. You walk the moral high ground in your job, family and lover. You are a person of integrity. Keep it healthy with low fat cheese and cheese snacks.

Chocolate Lovers – If dark chocolate is your thing then you are an extravert and the life of the party. You’re the perfect team member and very outgoing. Chocolate with nuts means you are a nurturer and very friendly. You’re a giver and have an open heart. If you like your chocolate with a hint of mint, then you are a clever one who is opinionated. And of course there are milk chocolate lovers. This group is compassionate, a thinker and takes their time to mull over everything before jumping into action.

Maybe you just like all kinds of chocolate. Regardless, to help keep it healthy opt for dark chocolate when you can. This provides healthful antioxidants and will satisfy any chocolate craving.

Snack Habits and Personality Traits

Maybe your food cravings are everything or certain times of the day. Your snack attack schedule also tells a bit about your personality. Do you snack all day long or on a set snack schedule? Do you only snack when experiencing a certain emotion? Or perhaps there is no rhyme or reason to your snack habits.

Disorganized Snacker

A disorganized snacker often misses meals due to their work or home schedule and snack when they need to. They may snack in the morning one day, then in the evening or even during the day. They are seen as absent minded and disorganized but the truth is they have a lot going on and meals are not high on their agenda. They may be misunderstood as self involved and selfish, but don’t mistaken this standoffish attitude as they are just very driven to complete the task at hand. They are ambitious and respected at work.

Emotional Snacker

Emotional snackers are friendly and outgoing and love life. Their cravings are driven by their emotions and so their snack schedule depends on their mood. The food cravings are often the too sweet or too fatty snacks to help sooth their emotional crisis. These snackers want to feel appreciated and loved and can easily be stressed and feel fatigued.

The Scheduled Snacker

As this name suggests, this group has a set snacking habit taking their snacks at the same time each day. If this fits your snacking style then you are set in your ways and traditional is your style. You can be charming so long as you get some attention. You live for your family and home life and can be opinionated.

The Constant Snacker

The constant snacker, also known as the nibbler, loves to snack all day long. These "snacks" are really mini meals 5 to 6 times a day and is probably the healthiest form of "snacking". The portions tend to be small and therefore considered a snack or small meal. If you are in this group you tend to be easy going and experience little stress and rarely have mood swings. These snackers cope well with life and are full of energy.

Rather there is a true connection between eating and personality and your snack habits is somewhat debatable. Regardless of your snack habits the key is making your snack time healthier. Here are some simple tips to get you eating healthy and snacking right.
