- The first rule states that the foods rich in starch and acids should be eaten separately. Since, acids neutralize the alkaline mediums required by starch digestion, avoid eating bread, rice, potatoes, etc. with lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, pineapples, tomatoes or other sour fruits.
- Similarly, even carbohydrate foods and protein foods should not be eaten together, as protein foods require an acid medium for digestion while carbohydrates are alkaline in nature. Hence, do not eat cereals, bread or potatoes, etc. with fish, meat, egg, tofu, or other protein rich foods. Or at least, there should be four hours of gap between the meals.
- Even acidic foods and protein foods should be consumed in separate meals, as the acids of acid foods suppress the secretion of the digestive acids involved for protein digestion. Hence, undigested proteins decay in bacterial decomposition and produce some harmful poisons. Also, avoid eating protein foods and fatty foods together, as some fatty foods like nuts require more time for digestion.
- Fruits that serve as the best foods during a weight loss diet, should not be combined with foods rich in proteins and starches. Especially, watermelons which are more than 90% liquid, should always be eaten separately.
- When on a diet, desserts should be avoided as much as possible, because they are heavy on stomach and usually ferment in to alcohols, acetic acids and vinegars. Likewise, fat meats, sour apples, beans, peanuts, peas, cereals, bread and jam, or hot cakes and honey or syrup, are some of other foods that should be avoided, as they are extremely slow in digestion and can result in discomfort and putrescent poisoning.
Below given is a sample diet plan comprising diet recipes, that are low in calories and easy to digest, hence aiding in fast weight loss.
Breakfast: Fruits, loaded with vitamins and minerals can be considered as a healthy food option. However, it is recommended not to have more than three fruits a meal. You can have an acid fruit (apple, oranges, grapes, etc.) breakfast one morning and a sweet fruit (bananas, dates, prunes, etc.) breakfast the next morning. In winters, one or two dried fruits like figs, dates, raisins, prunes, etc. can be a good alternative in place of fruits.
Lunch: For lunch, a raw vegetable salad comprising lettuce, celery, and some other raw vegetables along with avocado, alfalfa sprouts, nut and seeds can be considered. If you get bored, you can add some of your favorite cooked vegetables too.
Dinner: The dinner meal may comprise a raw, protein rich vegetable salad having nuts, tofu or cottage cheese. You can also include non starchy vegetables or protein rich foods like fish, lobster, low fat meat, etc.
